If Tennessee doesn’t blink and says hit the portal, does USC/UCLA still give him $4 million when the demand is no longer as high as his team says it was? Does Nico do all this simply to end back up closer to where he is now in AAV and put himself basically through all this stress for nothing? That’s not to mention the obscene taxes in California. How much more is $4 million in California worth than $2-$2.5 million in Tennessee?

This whole thing just seems so dumb for Nico.

This is why I’m not sure this is entirely his doing. Obviously, he physically does what he wants, but somebody’s in his ear. Like another poster said, however, you’re making that money- it doesn’t matter that you’re 18. You’ve got responsibility. Goes back to common sense and integrity. Deep down, if he has it, that has to win the day.

I didn’t say he had common sense or integrity.
I said IF he has it, that has to win the day. He may be too far gone for it. Or he may decide he doesn’t want to put up with what’s coming

I have a family member that coached. He said it wasn't the kids, but the parents that drive you away from it. I remember vividly him getting confronted by some angry parents after a game because precious little Johnny didn't get his turn on the mound that afternoon.

The parents eventually pulled him to a different league. The kicker? He was riding the pine there too.

I can only imagine the level of bullcrap the coaches, NIL funds, and university are taking now from parents. Now, its little Johnny playing ball while his family is begging for more money.

We were a BIG part of it with this guy. We paid him a lot to get him here (stupid). We then sued the NCAA about him with the TN and VA AG.

We have no leg to stand on to complain about NIL when TN was one of the major advocates/culprits of it.

Granted, we can go pre-NIL where we are 5-7 and losing 42-10 to Alabama and Georgia every year.

Have heard they have no money whatsoever when it comes to NIL, or don't put money into it for football. No idea if that is true, but if it is, its laughable to think about what kind of deal he is going to get over there thats better than what he has here.

This is funny - if what I think just happened, happened. Nico’s agent demanded more money —-and JH told him to pack his crap and leave, and there is no way another team is about to pay him as much as UT was on the hook for. He’s not that good. That kid just made a really dumb financial decision and listened to his agent. Hard life lesson right there.
Rest of our team will think twice before trying this crap again. I know Boo and MM did it - but at least they look like NFL talent. Nico sure as hell doesn’t- at least not yet.

Only thing I can think of is he didn’t really like it here and was like “pay me an obscene amount, or I walk.”

Nico is a dumbass or whoever is controlling his situation

A potential draft year for him and he pulls this before spring practice lol... I can't remember the last time a UT athlete gave themselves such a bad look....

No team anywhere is going to pay him as much as we were.

Well, when we were paying them too, we routinely beat bama. The playing field was level.
Only thing that changed was we let Fulmer go.
