Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Sounds like parties realized this was about to get Hella outta hand with the fanbase and or ON3 should get the ban hammer. I think the CBS article auggesting Nico should be cautious could have been a nudge from our side potentially. A lot of this stuff is agents working reporters. IMO JMO puts on flack jacket.

Sharticle adds nothing but conjecture. Close friend likely posturing. I dont know what to believe.

Truly hope Nico stays for 25, team and program will take a step back if he leaves. On one hand he himself has something to lose by leaving also. A good season, and he can go.

Tennessee hasnt surrounded Nico with elite talent. I can understand the frustration. That said, $8M. You're expected to be that kind of player. Dynamic, program defining.

Come back, get better. Be a leader, earn tha $8 mill. Go to the league.

"It is unclear whether he will enter the portal" means: "I am just making this rumor up to stir up 💩 and egg on Vols fans to hate on their QB at the spring game."

You can write "it is unclear whether" about anything in the world.
Does it though...from the CBS article. Which I think was initiated by us.

which is why sources at Tennessee say they were caught off guard when they saw their business being aired out on social media Thursday. The act could provide interested schools daylight to gauge Iamaleava's interest. Sources around Tennessee tell CBS Sports there are multiple parties involved in Iamaleava's camp, though his dad, Nicholaus, runs the show.
Why would sources at TN say anything? This was some agent ISH and it backfired. For all the folks saying let it play out I'd remind you that average fans are the ones buying the Nico merchandise that his NIL is purported to cover. I am mostly saying this was grossly mishandled pr by his team. When their side taints that image with average fans by floating his hand being out it hurts his value more than TN's.
Jmo imo puts on chain mail.

My dad got hit by tech bubble not long before his retirement. Given long enough it usually all works out without looking, but for the near term folks it is hard.
Then he did not structure his retirement well. The people heavily invested in the stock market should be young enough that the steep decline is no big deal because they are decades away from touching any of that money.

Aa you approach retirement your portfolio should not include near as much concentration in stocks, assuming you will need to withdraw the money to help pay living expenses.

I agree on your points, but the article cited UT sources. Yes it will end up a nothing burger. I also think who ever started did not get what they wanted out of it. ON3 cannot run something like they did without a source. UT had no reason to...the math is the math

Lol i know the angle you are approaching here, but you made a big assumption that i will shake off as well meaning. He was fine and was diversified according to sound investment advice. When a retraction occurs it occurs regardless how protected you are, but timing can also be everything. I highly doubt any retirees at any major event went out unscathed.

Save Warren Buffet who was the only one in green of the major shops in the recent slide.

Yes, it means the "reporter" just started a rumor, no sources necessary. And the following:
literally says that what the On3 guy did "could" [i.e., also could not] "provide" other schools "daylight" to gauge Nico's interest. It does not say that other schools were gauging Nico's interest so the brave On3 assho wrote his story about that.

And wtf is "provide...daylight" supposed to mean? Enable backchannel contact? They could do that anyway. It didn't "enable" anything. Except the threat that the idiot margin will boo their own QB. And then that will be reported.

This is a giant nothingburger. Unless dumbasses like the guys in the FF thread incite other dumbasses to boo Nico at the spring game. That would be the stupidest sh-t ever. That risk alone makes me glad the game is not being televised.

Hwhat? What does "cannot" mean in that sentence?

The Russians prolly told them.
Occams razor guys. Yes this will end up nothing as far as Nico leaving. It running in multiple news sites including CBS with "sources' says it was not just conjecture by on3. Also it hurt Nico's image - right or wrong. So while it will be nothing as far as him leaving whoever in his crew is handling negotiations should be summarily dismissed as all the major schools already have their deals done so his market now is small.
