Not a single AL West team has a positive run differential, yet if the playoffs started today they would have 2 teams qualify for the postseason. Meanwhile, the Reds have a +2 run differential and are in last place in the NL Central. I just looked at their schedule and they had lost 3 consecutive games 1-0. 1957: Milwaukee
1995: Atlanta

The Red Sox have 9 titles now so I highly doubt they would have a need to claim one from a completely different franchise.
