The financial pain that I see is exactly what you allude to. People whining that the latest greatest iPhone will cost well over $1000. It's a first world whine. It is not a whine of financial destitution by a long shot. They want the newest iPhone every time they are issued. Well boo ****ing hoo.

Verizon sent an email just last Thursday saying you can trade in any Apple, Google or Samsung phone (even old or broken) for a new one on Verizon. This was also part of their lock of rates for 3 years. I bet they're regretting that move today.
