who from this list of top 25 transfer portal players do we still have a legitimate chance with??

my favorites/hopes are... in no order

- Sa'Myah Smith
- Kiyomi McMiller
- Madina Okot
- Tiyanna Todd
- Caitlin Weimer

In my mind we need to add 1-2 bigs and at least one more scoring threat who can shoot 3 and drive ball.

Getting back to top 3 considering Tennessee got to get pass Oklahoma Texas South Carolina LSU beat two of those records wise and keep any other team improvement from Tennessee finishing top three record in SEC .

Such panic over Latson. If she signed this quickly after SC lost, this was her plan from the moment she entered the portal, regardless of UTs sub patterns. She's going to go play with her buddy and learn for a year from Dawn. They will continue to get the pick of the litter as long as Dawn is there, imo.

I get some people hate the subbing and I get some people don't trust the system, and to each their own. But, let's not act like Latson was right there knocking on Tennessee's door and the sub patterns chased her away. Doesn't seem to be the case.

I'm hoping for shooters. Love or hate the system, it is what we are riding with and we need three points shooters. If we get zero of those and zero length (Zee 2.0), then I'll be disappointed.

We will get someone because we need to fill out the roster, it’s all about the quality of players.

Sure but losing Latson doesn't kill the deal. Who we need to win is someone totally different. Players that can rebound and score inside. We got eight guards adding her just muddled it up a little more. I guess over there they can play Latson, Raven, and Fulwilley, Johnson and another guard can fill in. I don't think they are winning the title unless they get inside players and they may well get them next.

Oh I get that and not denying that about Latson but I was talking more about your comment about did we think we were winning next year and we’re building. I mean I would hope we go into every season thinking we will. SC just got better so I hope we’ll keep pace. I hope whatever moves we’re making are with Championships in mind.

If we got Latson and the post players you mentioned we could compete for a Championship. Latson is the type of player we are missing, we have a team full of role players in my option and that a supporting cast. Yes u may have a player put up numbers because we have nobody else but none of them will be AllAmericans.

We can still compete if we get the post players. Cooper has more physical talent than Latson she just needs to develop her basketball skills more. Last year was her first year to play she played well had more steals than Latson, More rebounds, and a higher shooting percentage. She needs better skills with the mental part of the game, but I'm looking for huge improvement out of her next season. Same for Spearman and Latham. Kanyia Boyd was playing her first season. Lot of High School All Americans coming in. We need to add people that can rebound and score inside. if we can do that I think we can compete with any team. We competed this season lost all our games by less than 10 points. We lost because of second chance points and defense just a fact and that is what we have to change.

It’s not the entire system, it’s just the mass subbing every 30 secs, the other coaches talk about it like it’s a gimmick or something.

I saw at minimum 90 second mass subbing. When did they go to 30 seconds mass subbing or are you being dramatic to make your point.

I understand that, and I understand your opinions and takes. I don't agree on all of them all the time, but I get your frustrations and questions. Time will tell where this is all headed, I think I'm more optimistic and you are more skeptical, and that's okay. All just along for the ride.

I think you are going to get Todd, McMiller is a maybe she might be asking for to much. We have to get one of Williams, Okot, or Weimer even Smith or we didn't fill a huge need.

She brings absolutely nothing to them at all i wouldve talked her into going pro or moving on...her game has not evolved at since shes been south carolina

When we signed Zee Spearman last year I was like "who?" Just bc their name isn't Latson or Miles doesn't mean they are no good.

I think Mia and Mya address that to a large extent. I didn't see a lot of turnovers more than any other team on the perimeter. The ones I saw were more passing than ball handling. We usually won the turnover battle when we played just couldn't stop teams from scoring if the had an inside presence most of the time. Both times we played LSU no one was blocking our Morrow. They would just throw up a shot she would get it and lay it in. 7 times in the first quarter at our place and about the same there. We lost those game by 2 and 5.

The price others are paying is the market. “Too much“ is what those without resources or those that get beat out scream.

What I think is happening is were in a bidding was for the bigs. Everybody wants them and I'm sure they will come with a big price.

Thanks for the clarification. I do think we have bolstered our ranks with that class. I am not sure all five will contribute right away so I’ll feel a lot better when we do sign some players. A lot of completion for Williams, it seems. I would love Kneepkens bc her defense is respectable along with her shooting but I haven’t seen where we are linked to her at all. Todd can shoot but I just don’t see her moving the needle much especially with her defense. McMiller is someone I dont think moves the needle enough to deal with the other issues and her three % was worse than Latson’s.

Something to keep in mind, sometimes these elite players already have their destination before they enter. Olivia Miles to TCU has been a rumor around for at least a month and a half. If you were expecting to get her that was never happening, resources or no resources.

We need to be working early to be such a destination for a key target as well.

It’s easy to look at last year and say we just need post players, but every year is different and the other teams are getting better, we were already behind so we need more than just that, we need ball handlers, proven 3pt shooters at this level, also players that can create their own shot off the dribble in one on one matchups.
