I haven't read that article, but from what I read earlier today I was under the impression it's mostly dire wolf genome with grey wolf inserted into the gaps. I could be wrong.After reading the article, they aren't “de-extincting” dire wolves. They are genetically modifying grey wolves to phenotypically resemble what they think dire wolves looked like.
This is not a dire wolf. It’s a GMO wolf. Clever marketing I guess
