Seriously, why is the “paid protestors” such a talking point.
For either side. The right says the left does it. The left tries to make it sound like a conspiracy theory. Meanwhile I’m thinking “meh” nobody in the middle gives a **** about protests”
It’s not like people who are Republicans would go and protest Trump for a few dollars. How is paying protesters any different than any other form of marketing?

The whole argument is stupidity

Generally I don't have a problem with it depending on the situation. (absent the whole violence and destruction of property thing) However, in this instance many of the people being paid are actually being paid by the U.S. government or indirectly through government funds - we should all have a concern there. The other issue is commercially if someone is paying others to protest like Tesla and its could invoke other liability issues as its very little different than astro-turfing and even RICO type actions - the devil is in the details though.

On the flip side.... everyone should be calling this for what this is.... paid rage. Nothing wrong with calling it out.

Criminal activity is different. And clearly should not be tolerated. But even if it’s their campaign money paying for it, how is that different than other forms of marketing? I think if anything it adds some liability concerns for the party paying the bill.

The devil is in the details. For instance astro turfing can entail legal consequences and that can be purely for marketing. One man's marketing is another man's libelous slander. If you are paying people to slander others than there is a problem, again depending on the details... just one explain.

If the protest were limited to just actual protest then yes your correct...problem is when they turn violent...the. You no longer have a paid protester you have a solider or terrorist being paid by a political party on us soil...the paid portion only matter when it gets violent..otherwise it's a distraction. So if the GOP or DNC pays 1000 protesters to protest and it turn to a riot...is that not an issue possibly an act of war on us citizens??
