At the beginning of this season I never would've seen Florida and Houston in the championship game. I hate that we're not in it but man I love basketball.
I still don't understand how Houston, who supposedly have no one over 6'8 (though I question Tuggler's listed height) outrebounded a Duke team 42-31 that has no one under 6'6.
They did. It took some serious choking on Duke's part but them's the breaks. I'll be pulling for them over Florida for sure. I actually wanted them to beat Duke I just didn't think it was going to happen.
I can’t believe it. I started drifting off right at the end of the game and when I opened my eyes again, Houston was celebrating. It felt like Duke was the better team and had this game in the bag.
I think we'd rather end up with Houston than Duke. Duke the better team, but lost focus when it seemed to be over. What was it, 7 points in 15 seconds ?
Also, shoutout to Mason Gillis who averages 6 pts a game for his career, tried to ride other super star's success to a Natty, but lost. He went from Zach Edey bandwagon to Cooper Flagg bandwagon and got nothing for it. Not sure why Duke even picked him up..
Yeah, it looked like the moment got to them. Young team and Scheyer was out of timeouts. I screamed when the announcers said "Sampson will probably take his last timeout to get his team organized" after those free throws. Duke had no timeouts, was under immense pressure, and had a rattled team with younger players. Calling a timeout there would have helped Duke a hell of a lot more than it would have helped Houston. Couldn't see any world where Sampson would have done that. Was happy when he didn't.
How can you say that when this Duke team was the overwhelming favorite to win the national title and just got out-toughed by a slightly lesser talented Houston team?
