Recruiting Football Talk VIII

There is a mechanical difference to throwing motions that can’t really be changed because it’s at the skeletal level but a lot of what kids mock as a girls throw had more to do with girls not participating in sports much. So yeah a lot is training and if a girl or woman who has played a lot of sports you’re not going to necessarily see it with the naked eye. Women can compete fairly well in throwing but the mechanics of men’s and women’s throwing motions will be slightly different no matter what.

If softball ever got to be a big money maker we would probably see a big jump in women’s throwing (both underhand and overhand) because some really smart people would be paid to maximize that throwing motion taking into account those skeletal differences.

As for women’s basketball… it’s going through a phase right now that reminds me of men’s college basketball in the past. It doesn’t have enough complete players. It has a bunch of players who might be aces at one or two aspects of the game while being godawful at others but no one is standing out as a total player. Ain’t no Holdsclaw or Parker in sight.
I actually didn't know there were shoulder/arm skeletal differences in men and women. D1 softball players seem to throw the same as men most of the time, but you're probably right, it's from proper training and nay not come naturally.

Happy Saturday

April 5, 2025: Do not panic when you encounter unexpected circumstances that require your attention. Stay calm, and God will lead you through every situation with precision. These are days of complexity, that are beyond ordinary, but I will give you the strength and ability to endure and overcome. Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.
This is so appropriate for me. Totaled my new truck last week. Thankfully I’m okay, but it shook me. Got insurance check already and found a replacement almost identical to the OG one. Just have to wait on them to put the new engine in for the recall.

Through it all, I trust in the Lord.

Men’s shoulders are slightly different from women’s but there’s also the torso and hips. To be fair though this is something that really hasn’t been answered to anyone’s satisfaction because there’s so many factors involved from culture to biology. And to make things more complicated throwing has wild variations within the same gender.
