this most recent refrigerant change is the most dramatic, but they have made several adjustments in the last 5 years.That is right about the refrigerants. Looking into replacing an existing system early this year I found that out. At that time there was a market in new pre-2025 systems wherever a few were still in inventory being shipped all over the south. I think they’ve sold out.
this is just the biggest one and manufacturers aren't able to eat this cost, because it goes beyond $$$. its a safety issue too. the dumb arse EPA doesn't care about any of our safety. didn't bother reading a building code. actively rejected listening to any of the industry experts who told this them stuff is flammable.
instead they created a defacto monopoly, and called it a win for the environment.
