Trade Wars and Tariffs

It does, and it has good reasons to do so. This dumbsh!t ain't one of them. BUT like I said, I've got plenty of time to recoup 100k lost in 2 days. It didn't drop me under 7 figures do I guess that's good.

And I am a federal employee. Teleworking from my hot tub in DC.
Hot blondes to the left and right?

I don't recall @titansvolsfaninga crying about the refrigerant change or having empathy for people that effected or showing empathy for all those who lost their jobs of Biden's jab mandate.

I foresee some serious injuries and deaths due to the refrigerant change, HVAC people are not prepared do deal with the new stuff.
When we went from R22 to R410A We had to buy all new equipment, new manifolds, new vacuum pumps, new micron gauges, everything. The oils were not compatible. A bottle of R22 went to $900.

R410A was supposed to be the be all/end all refrigerant when it comes to the environment. This all nothing but a scam and government overreach. It's why things cost what they do.

The manufacturer, Dometic Environmental, is thinking of going to all chiller based systems to get the refrigerant (propane) out of the living spaces. You still have a potential bomb in a confined area. There will be explosions and there will be injuries and deaths and there will be lawsuits, and the government will be no where to be found. And, it will be 100% the governments fault.

You know the house prices are already inflated, and you're acting flippant about 10k. Your ass is out of touch. Conservatives lack zero empathy for anyone. You won't care unless it affects you. Just a shifty person all the way around.
Did you flip out this much when hosting prices increased 100k minimum in the last 4 years.. Nope you bent over a took it..

Oh yeah and HVAC service will go through the roof. My wife's company is buying up all the 410A units they can for their apartment complexes, they aren't even thinking about having their maintenance crews work on/service the new stuff, they're going to contract all of that out so expenses will go up. I'm sure titansvolfan is filled with empathy for the residents it will effect.

Vietnam is a great example of the pointlessness of these "reciprocal" tariffs.

Vietnam's average effective tariff on US imports is 5.1%. But Trump is taking the trade imbalance and calling it a tariff of 90%. But even if Vietnam were to cut all tariffs on US imports it will not erase the trade imbalance. Vietnam is a poor nation with less than a third of the population of the US, but they produce a ton of textiles for dirt cheap. They simply do not need, and cannot afford, to import from the US at a rate comparable to what the US imports from them. Tariffs will never change this fact. The only way to correct this trade imbalance is for Vietnam to stop producing, or for the US to stop buying, the things that Vietnam makes that Americans want to buy.

Assuming that every single trade imbalance is a problem is economically illiterate. An 8th grader could tell you how dumb that concept it.

I'm trying to sell my apartments now. You know rent will go up because of this. Poor people will get hit again. Insurance has tripled in the last 4 years too.

While I agree, he did just save us 5.1% on imports so that sounds like a small win.

I think 70% of these tariffs will be gone by the Summer (if not earlier).

My wife's choice of cabinets added more than that to the price of our house. $10K ain't much compared to the variability of other building products.....or at least it wasn't for us.
This you? 👇
It concerns me that the people at the wheel think this inflation is being generated by the "lending" side, and that raising rates will have anything close to the desired impact. Our government (state and federal) have forced the increase in prices by mandating wages, and printing money. Their tactics will only harm the ones just starting to climb the economic ladder..... and I can't help but think this may end up backfiring when those liberals newly out of college realize that getting their college load payed for doesn't help them buy a car or have affordable housing.....and they can't blame it on Trump, cause he's not the one in control.

This is the kinda crap my wife and her people buy. They buy distressed complexes and fix them up.

Isn’t that link a liberal “News” outlet spinning some comments to stir up the triggered left with their propaganda?
Lol you can watch him say it directly on Fox News if it makes you feel better.

Most people don’t care until it is them. That’s not a conservative or liberal stance. You worry about your family before giving back. That’s life 101.

Good for you.

Don't get me wrong, I think he's gone about this about as stupidly as he could have but I'm hoping like hell it works out in the end. I'm in the wait and see mode right now, I've lived through this shot a couple times and always came out better so no reason to throw a hissy fit YET.
Dont F$^#ing rain on my knee jerk pity parade.

But that wouldn’t include the liberal spin that the Independent included as 95% of their story.

Completely doing away with the Vietnamese tariff could save the US up to $670 million per year. That's all well and good.

The problem is that Americans spend about $11.4 billion PER MONTH on Vietnamese made products. Increasing those prices by 46% is disastrous for American consumers. Even if the tariffs get 86'd in a few months, it will take years for the tariff savings to offset the spike in consumer prices.

I am probably one of the most in touch with this issue on this forum. I am an architect and helping my parents build their forever home.

I already named one change that had far more impact than this 10k. you only care about this 10k because it has Trump's name on it. you have never complained about any of the cost increasing factors, I have complained about everyone of them, and brought several of them to the board's attention before the media did.

I am worried about the whole picture, you are almost literally ignoring the log in your own eye to blame Trump for the splinter in his.

Did it come with that person on the bed? And is that Army base housing?

LOL
That's from a due diligence she's doing on a property in OKC they're looking at buying. No, it's not military housing, right now it's squatter housing for the most part.
