Yes, this brilliant plan with restore America to the greatness of the 1890s. 41% on the Falkland Islands. LOL

No one who has a clue is shocked, surprised or disappointed. American companies are coming back. It's working beautifully.
Do tell how. You're looking for a manufacturing job that pays $15/hr?

Back in the day, the Republican party believed in free trade. Guess who hijacked the party. And you bought into it.

You broke it, you bought it.

Enjoy your $200 Nikes.

Trump is a moron.

Can you explain the art of this deal? As I understand it, they are only talking about removing recent retaliatory tariffs against Trump. It would return us to where trade rules were with Canada in December 2024.
Nope. Canada is proposing that they would drop ALL tariffs on the US if Trump drops all tariffs on Canada.

It's more the art of leverage than the art of the deal.

Thanks for the correction, and this would be cool, but Trump has never explicitly advocated for a completely free trade partnership with Canada. They aren't giving into Trump, as OP suggested. They're taking a disaster and proposing the best possible solution. Credit to Trump, I guess.

Trump HAS spoken about the possibility of eliminating our tariffs if other countries eliminated their tariffs on US goods. He has not, to my knowledge, mentioned that specifically in regard to Canada. However, I never believed the fentanyl argument in the first place. This was always about eliminating Canada's tariffs on US goods.

Canada had tatiffs on US products before Trump entered office. Those would be eliminated.

NAFTA.

Also, guess what Orangeblobs threats have done to Canada? Their citizens are now going to boycott American products and services. Is that good or bad for us, dude?

The 1930s was the last era of hard tariffs. How'd that work out?

Remember that Adam Smith "the invisible hand" economist? No, probably not. Praise Jebus Donald Trump will prove what a bunch of **** that whole thing was.

That is an attempt to send a message to repatriate manufacturing to the US rather than trying to keep shift it to a new, cheaper country.
The message that had been sent, with some merit, was for companies to move their supply chain of important products out of China, because we don't want it to have the power to shut our supplies down.

So much for that. This could push some Asian countries back TOWARDS China.

take ALL tarriffs off.....the tarriffs launched today and the tarriffs already got

It's already happening. Several people on the internet were making the same joke, imagine being so bad at foreign policy that you get Japan, Korea, and China to unite against you.

Kids.

After they get done picking our produce after school, they'll go to their second job at the factory to pull a graveyard shift à la Ron Swanson.

You can bet they won't be using the US dollar for those trades either.

Trump is going to single-handedly do what the entire world couldn't manage to do, and remove the dollar as the preferred reserve currency.
