Kellie Harper to Missouri

Missouri committed to sharing some of that 20.5 million with women's basketball.
From the article I read Kellie Harper was contract by other university about their women's basketball opening.
Seen where Kellie Harper said recruits in the transfer portal have express interest .
Kellie Harper meet with NIL deals group and Missouri new ad before accepting Missouri tigers job.
Kellie Harper in a press conference said Missouri was still talking to assist coaching candidate..
Missouri women's basketball has hired three so far.

If UT could have landed Shade, Booker, and Del Rosario, we'd have been in championship contention last year and potentially this year. High school recruiting was the downfall.
Let' not get in to that debate.
But since you open the door.
Green getting hurt effect one season
Jordan H. Hurting her elbow didn't help another season
And Rae B. Getting hurt didn't help a third season.
You can say they wasn't enough thoroughbred horses in the university of Tennessee barn.

Yes, the injury bug took its toll. Could have used some more talented depth to take up the slack.

Serious question.
What contention were we in this year beating a FF team (Connecticut), winning a NCAA tourney road game at the hosting site over a #4 seed (Ohio State), beating a S16 team (Ole Miss), and other NCAA tourney teams Florida State, Richmond, Liberty, Alabama, and Iowa?
Prior to the incoming #1/#2 recruiting class featuring 3 McDAAs in addition to 2 Top 50 commits.
There weren’t 10 teams in the NCAA tourney that looked better than this UT team in March Madness.
Tennessee played Texas as good as any other team will likely play that team.

We were in contention to be one of the best twenty teams in the country and the eighth-best team in the SEC.

A team that loses in the second round of the SEC Tournament is not a bonafide national championship contender.

What contention were we in? No better contention than the last 5 years and less contention had we been healthy in those years. We finished 9th in the SEC for the 1st time in the NCAA era, we lost twice to Vanderbilt 1st time ever, we lost to last place Georgia, we played on day 1 of the SEC tournament for the first time ever and we had one of the worst defensive ratings in the SEC as Kim Mulkey pointed out as she beat us the 1st time. At that point in the season we were the worst defensive rated team in the league. Although the basketball looks different, the results are not as good. Aweful lot of firsts this year and hopefully it improves next year. The final results were no better than what we've had the last 5 year. Kellie did have the 3rd best winning percentage in the SEC over those 5 years behind Staley and Mulkey and had wins over Mulkey, Staley and Vic. Current Staff in season 1 is 9th. Hopefully that gap can be closed over the next couple of years but to do that they need a great portal haul and significant improvement from the core returners which is possible. Freshman are freshman until they get the mentality and physicality to compete at this level and that takes time. None of this incoming class are a Maya, Chamique, Candice, Diana or Juju.

Would think that Kellie might be taking a look at 6'0" guard Kyrah Daniels from Mo State. Started 22 games as a freshman and all 35 games as a sophomore.

Last year averaged 12 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.2 steals. Averaged 29 minutes.

Don't know who their looking at but Kellie Harper said transfer portal players are contract them .

Do know Missouri tigers said they are good going to spend maximum or all 20.5 million dollars on their various college sports teams.

That Paul on SEC network who has his own show
Had someone on saying that settlement money - court case ruling would bring more cinderells to the dance.

lol reach of the year. You would’ve done better not even responding that is ill-informed at best.

For anyone interested

Kellie seems very eager and excited about the role at MZ. Not sure if it’s genuine eagerness and excitement, or if it’s a bit forced. I hope she took the role because she truly wanted it, not to be spiteful with what happened at TN and it being an opportunity to coach in the SEC for revenge. I do wish her success and fulfillment, but will still be pulling to TN!

She’s actually doing the AD a solid by taking another HC position. Will help defray her buyout cost.

Her name was also circling at Auburn and Arkansas. In all fairness, she was only getting 550K basically doing nothing last year and signed a 4.5 million dollar contract at Missouri. She might have needed a little extra spending cash to get her by.

Naw, Facts matter. Having our worst conference placement in the history of lady vol basketball at 9th in the SEC is bad enough and having to play on day one of the SEC tournament is terrible, but 2 losses to Vanderbilt in the same season is enough to make any true Lady Vol fan lose it, the second being a blowout to make it worse. Everyone knows this.

"SEC Network analyst and former Lady Vols player Nikki Fargas recalled that her former Tennessee coach, Pat Summitt, emphasized, "You just don't lose to Vanderbilt"

Making statements that we were in contention for anything this year is beyond far-fetched hyperbole. Our last loss last season was to North Carolina State, a Final 4 team. Was that team in contention for anything? I don't think so.
