What you've done (without realizing) is you've taken something we all suspect, corruption in DC, and combined it with knowledge of some who are very wealthy. But it doesn't mean they gained wealth via corruption.

If they weren't corrupt, they should be running a hedge fund. If they could take $175K/year and make $30M I am sure they could make billions rather than a paltry $30M

I think you're underestimating the ability to 1. insider trade out the ass, and 2. along the same but not exact same lines, have control and knowledge of the rules and regulations that are going to impact markets well ahead of time.
