Trade Wars and Tariffs

Of course you would go that route. We've been teetering on the cliffs edge for decades, change is worth a try.

The topic is the communists understand Adam Smith and the Trump admin doesn't. Discuss

Go ahead and elaborate. Start the basis of the discussion and how communists understand him.

The context is in the tweet that I replied to and then you interjected with something that has nothing to do with anything.

Free trade killed the middle class in America. I don't know how anyone can argue otherwise. I don't like tariffs strictly from a selfish pov (I'm in the service sector and heavily invested in stocks), but I understand the play. I think COVID taught us that there are certain industries, like medicine, that we have to have in our country and not outsourced.

Yeah that doesn’t back up your argument that communists understand Smith at all. What’s excluded is the fact China levies some pretty massive protectionist tariffs.

This is just another deflection. Probably every nation on earth has tariffs, so by that logic no admin understands Adam Smith. You're just saying China is hypocritical, is all.

Trump is philosophically pushing us away from Adam Smith. Last year it was tariffs don't raise prices and now it's increased prices don't matter.

Again:

We don't have free trade, if we did the middle class would be thriving.

Why don't you give us your thoughts?
