Another note about poor/middle classThere's been a lot of interesting research on this too. The entire "Karen culture". There are some positives...and negatives.
Mostly comes from middle-to-upper-middle class folks that know how to play the game. They understand, through their own parents having been employed in such situations, that these things are often more flexible than companies want to let on. Things can be negoatiated and rules nuanced. The downside are when folks take it to be granted and feel entitled.
Kids coming from lower income statuses have been shown to generally not have been taught that same advantageous gamesmenship in social settings. Many come to believe these social situations are set in stone and non-negotiable. Otoh the rich don't have time for such squabblings.
Kindness and Grace are free, I’m trying to be better with the former and I’m a beatificiary of the latterTL;DR incoming
I’ve learned a lot (God has shown me a lot) in the last 5 years about being a better person, and I still have a way to go. I’ve always been respectful (have NOT always made the right decisions and have done some bad things along the way that hurt myself and others, but that’s a different story) and thought I was kind, but my eyes have been opened to more. The little things we do or don’t do make a difference. I believe that any time I am out in public it should be obvious that I follow Christ. From opening the door for a stranger, to showing kindness to that wait staff who is having a rough day and messed up my order, even the way I drive and the way I post on Volnation (which has been a struggle for me. I have always had a sarcastic nature and my volnation posts definitely fall short of who God wants me to be).
When I drive, do I give people grace and let them in line, or do I run up on the bumper of the person in front of me? A can say that’s a work in progress because I have little patience for people who drive stupid, but I’m getting better about just relaxing, slowing down, and backing up.
When I post on volnation do I allow others their opinion even when I think it’s a bad take? Or do I ridicule them. I STRUGGLE with that one.
If more of us, self included, could do what Jesus said, and put the feelings of others before our own, the world would be much better place. That goes against our very nature. We are a self centered bunch of flawed humans.
One last story I will try to make quick.
If you’ve ever been to Lambert’s restaurant in Gulf Shores, you know you’re looking at minimum 1 hour wait to get in. Last time we went we got seated right before a party of 5-7 people and the guy “leading” that group immediately told the waiter how big of a hurry they were in and let him know his expectations lol.
1. If you have time to wait an hour to get in you should have time to wait on your food.
So the young waiter is immediately stressing and starts bending over backwards to accommodate this man. Each time he comes to their table the man cussed him because he didn’t do something right or quick enough. The waiter was very obviously going out of his way to accommodate but nothing was good enough. As that party was finishing their meal and cussing the waiter for not getting the check to them quickly enough, he finally had time to take our DRINK order. Mind you we sat down just before the other group.
Man I felt awful for the waiter and it was all I could do (and my wife telling me to stay calm) not to say something to that man.
Never be THAT guy, who everyone looks at and thinks “what a jerk”. Be the person who gives kindness even if your waiter/waitress is having a bad day
Have a blessed day Volnation
You're correct about when Knecht plays most often. If Lakers are 100% healthy DK is like 10th in rotation and NBA teams usually just go 9 deep. What's happened is that the player that wears the face mask has surpassed DK due to his great defense. Hopefully DK gets traded this off season upcoming because all the guys on the team will still be under contract but I don't want DK traded to a scrub team that he plays a ton on but is never on T.V. due to the team sucking. My conspiracy theory is when Lebron is healthy he doesn't play partly due to Knecht being notoriously reluctant to pass to Bronnie. It also doesn't help you have too many guys and Knecht is the rook who occasionally doesn't play great defense. He has gotten much better on defense though. He got his minutes recently due to injury, which included a Lebron injury. I honestly don't believe Knecht is long for the Lakers which I think is in his best interests. He's a medium fish in the pacific ocean there, but at other clubs he'd be the great white in a koi pond.
My wife and I, along with my son, dil and her 1st son are planning to go since my mil lives so close to the track.Anybody going to this?

Gilbert Arenas said this is why they traded him in the first place iircMy conspiracy theory is when Lebron is healthy he doesn't play partly due to Knecht being notoriously reluctant to pass to Bronnie. Id recommend the Children's Hospital parking garage. You cant park any further away than that, but $20 goes to a great cause.Thinking about taking my son to the spring game. I've never gone to a spring game, so any suggestions on good parking? I'm sure there are much better options than for an actual game.
I saw what @Christian Lowe posted too. There have been other jokes about it more recently when they played. From Laker fans i presume. So this was not my horse so to speak, but I won't mention it again.Believe what you all want, I'm a Lakers fan and WATCH EVERY GAME and damn Bronny James never sees playing time unless it's a blowout with 2 minutes left in the game or half the team is injured.
But as always when you guys find a narrative you beat it like a dead horse.
