President Donald Trump - J.D. Vance Administration

Not the point at all, but is a standard MAGA dodge now, isn't it?

The issue is not whether national security was actually compromised. Its that these same now-public officials slammed HRC and Dems over the years for very similar transgressions. And they were morons in the way the MAGA officials did this. And they are making it worse with incredibly dumb excuses and dodges.

Everyone can see you screwed up. You know you screwed up. Don't pretend like its not a big deal. Own it. Take action. Move on.
You still think this was as bad as Hillary 😂🤣

So it's all good as long as there are no "adverse consequences"? That's quite the interesting take

Also curious how it was successful besides the bombs actually exploding. This doesn't help the average American in any form and just continues the evil treatment of Yemen

No that's not what I asked. Was Signal viewed as a secure, approved app that allowed all discussion? Or did those involved know the rules and actually follow them before this incident?
I'm not sure of the rules, and there seems to be a lack of clarity as to whether confidential information was discussed/exposed?

In any case, inviting a journalist--and this particular journalist at that--makes them look like idiots.

This guys has a history of running fake stories about Trump, right?
So a bit off to the side but given who this guy is how is it he ended up getting taggged in? Who in that group would even have Goldberg on their account? Of all people wouldn't having that guy just happening to pop up in their group chat be like, IDK, suddenly having your wife's ex pop up in a group text she sent you?

I agree but don’t blame him for not doing so. Can’t blame a weasel for getting in the henhouse when you leave the door open.
he explains in the article he thought it was BS. someone, not in the admin, trying to trap him. it wasn't until Hegseth posted something the public could never have known before time that it was legit. and he left pretty much right after that.

It is the same.

Pete Hegseth was disclosing highly sensitive information on an unauthorized app. It's ridiculous how hard you are arguing this .... and you appear to be doing so with some degree of ignorance of the content of the group chat itself. Hegseth absolutely was discussing military strike targets. He should not have been doing so on Signal, because it is an unauthorized app, and he was doing that without knowing the precise identity of everyone included in the group chat.

Did he ask anyone to Venmo him a few dollars?

I haven't used Signal to know exactly how it works, but if its like some other chat platforms, its kinda similar to email. if you have chatted with them before and go to type a name into a new chat, it will autofill.

its also possible that Goldberg had been the VN equivalent of "@"d previously, and that pinged him into the same autofill. pretty easy mistake to go from talking about someone, to go to "@"ing them instead which likely pings them.

least likely is Signal works like VN where you can @ anyone, regardless of you talking to them before or not.

*also Signal is a free app anyone can download and use. I am willing to bet its not all that secure or all that sophisticated.

That all makes sense on it's own but...it's these people with that guy that made it seem so out of place. I wouldn't think anyone in that circle would have much use for a contact with Goldberg given his political stance.

It's a small matter in the grand scheme I guess but it just seemed weird to not only have any reporter show up in this scenario but one so openly hostile to this admin.

I find this argument the administration is making now to be EXTREMELY weak.

"I accidentally released classified national security information?!?!?!?"

"Well, that's ok because my act of doing so renders it declassified. In my head. Trust me."

Agreed, it's weak, the reporter should publish it. You should be screaming that he publish it.

agreed. thats why I thought it was BS until everyone involved confirmed it happened.

the only disagreement is on how bad it is, not if it happened.

He's actually not. If what was posted in the chat was classified, it doesn't legally become unclassified simply because Hegseth said it didn't happen. If I were in Goldberg's shoes, I'm not making anything public until I get a ruling from a judge.
I've mulled this over for a while. I don't agree. If the admin or Hegseth says it isn't classified, or not war details, then they cannot find fault with a reporter who takes the exchange public, can they?
