War in Ukraine

Ukraine doesn't have the troops to fight this war much longer. Months at most. So where do those troops come from?

Without troops it all collapses. Putin knows this.

By the way, in case you haven’t been paying attention drones have entirely changed warfare as we know it.

Lol, you're jumping the shark now, "trillions".

You are correct in one aspect, trickling hardware to them was a terrible idea by the Biden administration, we should have given them the weapons in the quantity required to defeat Russia, not stalemate them.

Putin isn't going to stop because trump verbally fellated him for 2 hours. I know you want to believe that he will, but he won't.

“the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior.”
-Joe Navarro,
We could have brought trillions of dollars of weapons over in one day, it wouldn't have mattered. How can you not see this? It's a matter of numbers Ukraine doesn't have the men. They didn't have the men at the beginning and they definitely don't have the men now.

Then let's throw another trillion at them what do you think Monty? Or should we go for two or three more trillion? Or would you rather have American and European boots on the ground.

I don't believe for a minute Russia can/wants to move beyond Ukraine. They've spent their best fighting, units depleted their reserves etc. just as Ukraine has.

Europe are the ones that believe he is, that doesn't make much sense to me. The reasons for Russia making the lives they have have been discussed here already. It was now or never. But they've been very careful and deliberate. Any foray further into Europe would illicit a response they are ill equiped for, they know this. Fighting a European and American proxy has been more than they bargained for.

Having that arsenal in reserve helps to insure they make no further moves. Committing it just makes it more likely we enter an all or nothing scenario that cascades out of control IMO.

I believe committing to war with Russia is a mistake....... And continuing down this path is where that leads us.
Why would Russia go after any more countries than Ukraine. Both are basically Brothers in different houses. Both governments are corrupt

It's funny that you call Zelensky a liar, but have nothing to backup your assertions, but choose to believe that Putin doesn't have further expansionist goals in Europe, even though Russia is currently occupying parts of two other countries, with Putin lamenting the fall of the USSR as the worst event of the 20th century, and comparing himself to Peter the Great.

Come one guys didn't you know Ukraine has plenty of soldiers, the video of people being dragged off the streets are false..
And Russia is losing...Ukraine willing gave up 20% of it land just for funzies..

😆. To be fair, the bolded is a common Eastern Strategy. See Napoleonic Wars, WW1, and WW2. Of course it didn't work in WW1.

I don't believe Zelenski is a liar, he's doing what any leader in a precarious position has to do.

From the Russian point of view it absolutely would be worst event of the 20th century, that shouldn't be surprising should it?

Leaders rallying their countrymen to war harken back to their great historical leaders.

What Russia can do and what they wish they can do are different things. If Europe arms itself and keeps a cool head WWIII could be averted. Commit the arms reserve to battle Russia right now and it can't........

It's really that simple. Two choices: start WWIII now, or try to negotiate a peace Europe and Russia can live with and have a chance at peace. I know which one I would choose.

Context matters.

Which other lands do you think Putin considers "Russian lands" that must be retaken? Georgia? Latvia? Estonia?

Which other lands do you think he could take. His standing army is only comparable to that of Ukraine according to your numbers. He can't take those other lands without overextending his military. He's already more or less taken Georgia, Ukraine fought back and he's spent all but his favored sons of Moscow.

You're correct, context does matter. Russia can't afford a wider conflict without severely straining the country, even more than they are now. That wouldn't fly domestically in Russia, they are already hurting.......... Unless you give him the no other choice cop out........ Then his people would fall in line to support all out war.

My worry here is if you take the fight to Putin via Europe with likely help from the US you give him what's needed at home to sell the misery in Russia needed to pull that off. Putin can't do this without completely trashing his economy and souring his future economic fuel via gas sales to Europe. Declare war in him..... Which is basically what you are advocating for, and he's then "forced" to do this.

Europe will need years to build their war machine anyway.

We, US and Europe should be working to build common economic ties that benefit all parties to minimize the likelihood of future conflict. Not rhetoric that hastens conflict.

Putin has a strangle hold on the Russian people. Whole generations have been wiped out. This has to be a powder keg. He needs this to end as badly as Ukraine.
