The Official 2025 March Madness Discussion Thread

I knew I should have picked Mcneese over Clemson & am really questioning my whole life as to why I didn’t ?!?

What do we always say? All it takes is one poor shooting day and you’re gone. It was nice getting 14 teams in but I think Georgia and Texas were both stretches.
💯. Would have much rather seen a couple mid major programs than those two.

Georgia wasn’t. They finished well, and they beat St. John’s in non conference. They beat 1, 2, 3, 9, 10, and 11 seeds in the NCAAT.

I get the SEC was good this year, but I've been wondering if alot of the hype was simply becuase we dominated the ACC/SEC challenge. Two of the 3 best ACC teams look to be going home today in Louisville and Clemson. Both in blowout type fashion to a lower seed.

I think when you look at how the SEC did against other conferences, like the Big 12 and BIG 10, they did well but it was closer to .500 winning percentage.

For sure most years, but it was nice to have the SEC shatter the tournament record for teams making the tournament.
Our top seeded teams better make some noise or we're never going to hear the end of it from some of these other conferences.
Pretty confident myself an SEC team is hanging a banner later this year.

It might just be Duke is rated a little higher than what they actually should be.
I wouldn’t go that far, Duke has still looked like the best team all season. But I must say that the quality of the ACC does make their close wins and their loss to Clemson look a lot worse than they did earlier.

Hope you’re right though. The thought of a Duke-Florida final makes me physically ill.

That’s a crazy stat. Clemson goes 6-9, 6-10 and 6-11 on the front line and McNeese has 15 offensive rebounds. And their biggest man looks to be 6-6. Effort and speed go a long way. Clemson looks really slow and not very athletic.

Not against the Big 12.

14-2 against the Big 12.

10-9 against the Big 10.

Yeah, I just said might because they didn't have to prove they are the best team in the country too many times this year as far as top rated competition. That, and their 3 losses could all be out of this tournament 1st weekend.

Agree. Duke and NC have to be a bit concerned.
On a related note, I’m curious on what UNC does if Hubert loses to Ole Miss tomorrow. He’s been pretty average overall, and I think everybody agrees his runner-up performance was due to Roy Williams’s leftovers than his own coaching.

Not sure if they fire him that quickly or not, though. Would be very interesting to see a Tar Heel coaching search if so.

They’ve already extended him and hired an agent as their GM.

He’s also gone to a title game even though he missed it the year after that.

Probably becasue they were getting some hype for beating Duke.

Duke is good but I do not believe they are one of the 4 best teams in the country. Just as I don’t think Houston is either.

Both play in poverty conferences

My bracket may fly all to pieces but I didn't miss that one.

UNC SHOULD get ahead of NC State and move on from Davis. UNC could quickly become the 3rd best school in the area if NC State officially brings in Wade

Have to ask who your 4 best teams are, then. Hard to argue Houston and Duke aren’t after the seasons they put up, and I’d hardly call the Big 12 a “poverty conference”.

This is without my SEC bias but my top 4 would have been

Florida 1
Auburn 2
Tennessee 3
Alabama 4
