The Official “Regular Posters of the Basketball Forum” Thread

Tennessee is the last undefeated team in college baseball. Tennessee was also the last undefeated team in college basketball. Our first loss in basketball was to Florida. Who do the Vols play this weekend??

In all seriousness, we’re going to drop a game soon and Florida is a top 10 team in baseball. Winning the series 2-1 would be huge. Can’t imagine we’ll sweep them. Just very ironic that our first loss is likely to come to Florida in both sports. 🤮🤮

A great day to watch conference tournaments. Hopefully some upsets and bid stealers this week...
Amen. This forum has been kinda dead the last couple days. This is one of the best months of the year for sports fans, in general. For a hoops junkie like me, it's as good as it gets.

Things kick into high gear today. I expect some upsets - keeping an eye on Cincinnati vs. Iowa State and UCF vs. Kansas. Would love to see Navy win the Patriot League tonight at 15-18. One losing team (St. Francis, PA) has already punched their ticket.

Got my eyes on the AAC, Memphis gets in without winning conference tournament. Looking for a team like UAB or maybe even East Carolina to make a run ..

Absolutely. I believe Oklahoma needs to beat Georgia today to stay alive. Every game feels like an elimination game for them.

I hope Texas beats A&M

Buzz Williams is a basketball terrorist.

I just HATE watching them. His teams are always so weird. And it’s never enjoyable.

This year they basically suck on offense. But offensive rebound like crazy.

A couple years ago was the team that shot 30 FT per game.

I hate it

Between him and LaMont Paris, I can’t think of two teams/coaches that are more of an affront to basketball and my eyes. Just hideous basketball that isn’t fun to watch. I don’t trust Texas to win, so it will probably be A&M, but I’m with you.

Wow, Vol fans pulling for Texas, I like it!

I’ve never lived in a city with an NBA team and am not really a fan of any particular team. So player movement or players influencing front office decisions bothers me not at all. It’s completely irrelevant to my enjoyment of the games.

Luka dribbling the air out of the ball and crying to the refs after every play impacts my enjoyment of the games.

Btw, it feels like a bit of a stretch to blame James for players requesting trades and generally ignoring their contracts given that he’s only ever switched teams during free agency and hasn’t (at least to my knowledge) asked to be traded. I think you’d be better off blaming harden or Durant or butler or even lillard. Just someone who has actually reneged on a contract or asked for a trade. James’s innovation was more just making a spectacle out of his free agency (which I didn’t really love but also just don’t care much about)

Besides, you can't blame LBJ for the "super team era". Boston started that in the mid-to-late 2000's with Pierce, Garnett and Allen after the Pistons run earlier in the decade.

LBJ had to leave Cleveland and join forces with Wade & Bosch to combat their stranglehold on the East. Western Conference teams seem like they started it even earlier than that with the Rockets, Spurs and Lakers in mid 90s - 2000s. League was always going to move that way.

You're exactly right. For example, in 2003, the Lakers brought in Malone and Payton to pair with Horace Grant, Kobe and co. Sure, most of that roster was older, but I'd still argue it was an attempt at a super team, just not one in their prime. I don't think it started with LBJ at all, I agree. What team wouldn't want to add marquee players?

You might be right that it would move in that direction, but none of those other teams had players meeting in hotel rooms to plan going to the same team. Players being drafted or traded for is a bit different than organizing with free agents to form a superteam. James couldn't win a title organically, so he had to go out and form a team to win.
