Id say Barry had once in a generation gifts, speed, hand eye, and work ethic. A HoF without steroids. But that's what it took for him to hit how he did.

Long term MLB contracts are stupid. Team usually stuck with with an under performing player for half of it.

Giving Jason Heyward an 8 year deal was crazy. He sucked well before that deal. .245 and 62 homeruns for 7 years in Chicago. IDC about his great defense. His constant 0-4 with 3 strikeouts and stranding runners canceled his defense out.
