The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

Ridley, Boyd, Hopkins.........and nothing to show for it. Not even close to being the worst in the league.

Ridley is back. Resign NWI, draft a guy in the 2nd or 3rd (if we trade down and get extra picks) and get a mid level FA.

get better through the draft and forget about "flashy" FAs.

Agreed. We had a very solid WR core last year. It was good enough to win a lot of games if we had competent QB play. Unfortunately, we ran out the worst QB duo in the NFL.

High end player??

Come on now, Deebo hasn't been a high end player since 2021. He is valuable as a gadget player when he's healthy. But he's not remotely close to a top end WR.

I’m always amazed by our ability to both have one of the worst rosters in the NFL, and our fans to simultaneously hate on every player who would be an obvious upgrade.

It’s truly impressive

There a lot of obvious upgrades who will available in FA and will only cost cash to acquire, instead of cash and a 5th round pick. Godwin, Cooper, Diggs, etc. are all slated to be FAs. And others will likely get cut like Devante Adams, Kupp, Theilen, etc.

Given the success rate of 5th round picks and us being in the top ten in terms of cap space, I think it’s a very reasonable move.

I highly doubt our 5th round pick will be as good or better

Again, there will be plenty of pickings in FA without giving up a pick. Deebo is at best a #2 WR at this stage of his career. Giving up anything of value for him when we can get an equal or better WR in FA is silly.

It's not a reasonable move because we are a really bad team that needs a lot more than a #2 WR to be competitive. We need picks.

He would be an upgrade.

He would also be a 1 year rental for a team that won 3 games and doesnt have a competent QB currently on the roster....

"I’ve been told that Rodgers is now looking at three options, ranked here in order of likeliness as it was told to me: First, go to the New York Giants. Second, go to the Tennessee Titans. Third, stay in shape and wait for an injury/opening on a winning team with playoff chances," Berry writes.

Not sure what to make of this. I don't particular like Rodgers and his meddling. He's a headache wherever he goes. But he won't cost much (1 year guaranteed) and he's still plenty good. I guess the only argument to be made is that if we're gonna be bad again in 2025 anyways, why go with a guy who is only good enough to take take us just outside of a top 5 pick? Maybe giving Fields or Daniel Jones a chance to turn their career around is a better use of rebuild year than going with 40 year old QB?

I guess the upside is that we would be the favorites to sign Devante Adams. And by taking Rodgers away from the Giants, we make it more likely they trade up to #1.

It just doesn't make sense for him to go to a bottom team in the league. He has absolutely nothing to gain by doing that, and he'll probably get injured playing behind a bad OL that lacks playmakers.

Have the Vikings officially resigned their guy yet?

Don't give it away go for next years 1st & 2nd as well as this year's. Maybe even a couple of 3rd, 4th or 5th over the next couple of years.

Remember the Saints trading picks to draft Ricky Williams back in the day.
Haha, I told my son this a few weeks ago when we were discussing the many scenarios. I'd love to see the Titans get a ton of picks for that #1 slot. So many holes to fill, I believe it would be a wise decision. I also think the new GM is going to be a major upgrade over the last one.

I agree, but he said he wants to continue playing and I don't think he's gonna have a lot of suitors.

The interesting thing here though is who exactly wants him? I am always open to buying low. I think we could get him and Adams for relatively cheap.

On top of that we already have a west coast coaching staff. Our defense was pretty good.

Idk, it could be an interesting rental that’s cheap and at least puts fans in the seats. If it goes bad, we don’t have a lot to lose.

Agreed. For 1 year on a team that currently projects to be terrible again in 2025, he seems perfectly fine. The only question should be, is it worth it to sign a QB like him who clearly is a one year QB for us, in order to win a few more meaningless games and finish 6-11 or 7-10 instead of 4-13? I suppose the AFC South is super weak, so we theoretically would have a shot a playoffs with a competent QB like Rodgers.

But imo, we should lean into the skid. Sign a lottery ticket like Justin Fields, Daniel Jones, Zach Wilson, or Trey Lance and see if they have anything left to give. Maybe find our own Darnold/Mayfield. In the likely event that they fail, we'll be in prime position to take a top QB in 2026.

Looking at the draft, I am liking Elic Ayomanor a lot for our 2nd round pick, assuming we don't draft Hunter in round 1 (or T-Mac if we trade back with the Jets).

Agreed that I prefer the second option.

Bosa is intriguing to me. I always want buy low options. If he plays up to his potential we’d likely have the best dline in the league.

I would love Bosa. But he probably chases a ring at this point in his career. Most seem to think that he will want to team up with his brother in San Fran.
