State of the Union 2025 Edition

trumper does not = everyday American
Many anti-trumpers are everyday Americans just as many trumpers are everyday Americans.
But certainly not all of either group.

If you believe an "everyday American" is much more likely to be a trumper than not - then you've been brainwashed
WTH are you talking about? Of course Trump is not an everyday American. But a kid getting his appointment to West Point and another getting recognized as a cancer survivor should be so disdained that not a single Democrat could cheer for them is a righteous act?

If you really think that is okay, then there is something wrong with you. Maybe this is just more of your trolling, but Luther, have more class than that.

Whoever raised those democrats in congress and those few Americans who support their actions last night have done a poor job. There is such a thing as manners and decorum, and in turn they looked like fools overwhelmingly to the American people.
They also looked weak and unhinged from the start. Stand up, swing your cane and make an *** out of yourself, just to show that you are weak enough to be (and Trump is strong enough to have you) thrown out.

Middle-of-the-road, non-brainwashed people will look at that and surmise that the adults in the room are having to put the children in time-out.

Politically it was a slaughter on multiple levels, I wish he would have announced a few more things i.e. withdraw from NATO and closure of Department of Education. He gave those people an opportunity for those people to show their true colors and they certainly didn't disappoint.

We can’t get of NATO. It’s our only protection from the Warsaw Pact countries.

The number of times this has been brought up tells me it was simply a cheap ploy from a performer. The dems played right into it but there was no reason to have it

And can we stop pretending either side gives a damn about the us troops? Kids were born during, fought and died in the same non stop wars. Doge cut off the VA suicide hotline.

This is all just theater to keep the people occupied while we're robbed blind. A magic show
I do not disagree it was performative. However, the winners get to do the dog and pony shows. It is small price to pay and still give ordinary folks a moment in the spotlight.

He is a troll. I think he wrote that crap just to elicit responses. And unfortunately, I enabled him.
It's funny to me. A little trolling is fun for the board. LG is pretty good at it. So is Septic. A troll post can make for some lively discussion. But there is a point where it's too frequent and too limited in topic (ie, all djt all the time). We also have it on the R side of aisle. It's like listening to the same song or eating the same food everyday. There comes a point where it is just irritating.

Dear trolls, mix it up a bit. Bring some variety. TIA.

To be honest the weird guy with the cane was the smartest one in the room. He probably made it home in time to catch the end of the Tennessee baseball game.

Well said and I agree, @McDad.

Yep.

You don’t stand as a sign that you support the speaker. You don’t stand as a sign that you support the decision to bring the child into the environment and put the spotlight on him.

You stand and applaud because there is a little boy in the room that’s been through hell. And he’s getting an award. And he’s filled with joy. And he can see the entire audience. And you are a fu***** adult that can set your hatred for the President aside for 15 seconds to acknowledge and applaud a little boy with brain cancer. It’s a sign you aren’t completely heartless and have some shred of empathy.

Again, talking points have been distributed and will be driven into the ground. Glad to see you got the memo

A trumper talking about manners and decorum is hysterical.
He, more than any individual in the history of the US, is responsible for the lessening of those things.

So starting wars, destabilizing countries ( to the point of bringing back slave markets), enabling genocide are all ok as long as you do it with manners and decorum? You're one strange dude

As promised, I did not watch one second of the carnival show.
If they made the decision to attend, then they probably should have stood and clapped in those two instances.

Again. Glad to see you will always find a way to come in and claim the middle ground. You can’t just say it’s wrong and leave it at that. No no no. You gotta play both sides.

“Yeah but (pushes glasses up his face) let’s not forget that the girl could have dressed less provocatively…She’s not totally without blame here”.

“Yeah but the terrorist that beheaded those people was radicalized in part because America put boots on the ground in his home country”

It never ends with you. You think it’s a virtue. But really it’s cowardly.

I acknowledged the dems were wrong and should have stood. What other penance is required?

There is nothing cowardly about discussing the spectacle you just can't bring yourself to admit fault on the right. It's ok, many others here can't either

It's been the place for how many decades? Every SOTU address I have ever watched had the same PR stunts, the Dems just let their hatred override decency.
It's as much a tradition as the feigned outrage when the other side acts predictably. I'm just over the performance

They're predictable and it doesn't work anymore so it just looks strange to everyone now and has the opposite impact intended. I said something similar last summer, they either need to get to work or find a new gag... this one doesn't work anymore.

They might as well be campaigning for Vance right now.

"HOW DARE THE OTHER SIDE NOT PLAY ALONG WITH OUR POLITICAL THEATER!" cries the people who literally cut childhood cancer funding not 3 months ago.
