Assessing the tariff strategy by saying look at this truck that now cost 100K (which was a wrong assessment btw) and a day's reaction in the stock market seems like a short-sighted evaluation by someone with an economics background.

It might work in our favor/it might not - completely insufficient data to assess.

I suggested 1 year for assessment.

I doubt they last more than 3 months and the end result is a very modest reduction in tariffs charged to us by some other countries. Net/net small improvement.

If they remain for a year they will harm us and I'll be complaining about it.

if they persist for a year then it's more likely they persist longer. If they persist for a couple months and result in a slight trade improvement then the impact is temporary and easily overcome over the rest of the year and going forward.
