The thing most people don’t realize is that NASA has never actually built a rocket. Everything they have ever flown is contracted out. The only difference now is that instead of NASA paying numerous aerospace companies for piece work; they are paying a single supplier for both an entire vehicle and for the expertise to operate it.Sure. But if NASA does it, we can spend a lot more, and employ people whose retirement and insurance we can pay for for life.
And unlike NASA‘s past contacts, SPACEX works on fixed price contracts; not constantly increasing funding like had went to Boeing, McDonnal Douglas, et Al. Must better for taxpayers
