Job slashing and $$$ cutting is supposed to be the change after the audit. A product of the results. This ain't a damn reality TV show. It's disasterous with this hastily schemed process. The conclusions and accusations are ridiculously immature and incompetent.

BTW, Musk has no expertise at this. He's never done it before. Plus, the insane conflict of interest with him driving it

That almost happened to me but I wasn't firing or being fired.

Horrible situation concerning downsizing and having to lie to people repeatedly, the same people my director, a little frat boy type with family connections maybe 5-6 years removed from college, told me I was going to eventually be working with as a peer.

I raised some concerns and he replied with the most callous response imaginable. Before I knew what happened I was standing across the table from him with my fists clinched and I became aware of what I was doing when I saw the face of my manager and the other supervisor looking at me like they were afraid of what was going to happen next

I left the room, went to the bathroom and sobbed because it was the only way I could release the anger and frustration without going to jail. I have been in many fistfights over the years, worked as a bouncer......... Never in my life have I been that angry at someone and wanted to absolutely wreck someone like I did that day ........... But self control got the better of me!

I didn't get fired, they tried to promote me in fact after HR heard about what happened but I put in my notice.

NOAA Fires about 800 Employees, with More possible Friday​


The Trump administration has its government-shrinking sights set on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, where around 800 employees have been tapped for termination, according to two sources close to the agency.

More layoffs are possible Friday, one of the sources said, potentially costing the weather, climate and environmental agency more than a thousand employees by the end of the week.

Most divisions of the agency, which employs scientists and specialists in weather, oceans, biodiversity, climate and other research and planetary monitoring fields, were affected.

most of us complaining on this board are pissed that DOGE is claiming 8 billion in cuts, when really it was 8 million in cuts, and of that 8 million several million had already been spent. making the "saved" amount somewhere less than 8 million of the 8 billion claimed.

we are also pissed that even when DOGE admits to the 8 billion being wrong, they don't fix their total saved.

we are also pissed that they have cut multiple programs, and departments, that have real negative impacts with no solutions, because DOGE couldn't take 5 minutes to figure out what they were cutting before they cut.

Who gives a **** what they are saying? Cutting is Cutting. They are Cutting and the cuts are significant. You're just pissed because you don't like the cutters.

except its more government lying. more government inefficiency. and very little cutting.

just look at the dividend plan. they are only planning to actually save 20% of what they find. the rest is getting spent.

so not only are they vastly overestimating the total. they are straight up telling you they have no plans to save/cut 80% of what little they actually get. and you are too partisan to even stop and think about it for 2 seconds.

So your beef is they aren’t cutting enough or why bother cutting at all?

They are eliminating whole departments. They are cutting 10's of 1000's of jobs. They are a month in. Let them work.

I disagree with sending any money back. Pay it toward the deficit.

They're eliminating departments that they don't understand or even know what they do. Some are vital and either need to remain or be looked into to see how to adequately replace. It's what you get when you have people who have never held a job outside dev staring at numbers on a screen

Get rid of 2 wars, increase budget 37% from 15/16 to 21/22 and another 17% increase going forward.

All while our actual service members are getting pay increases far less than actual inflation....

I aint mad. Ive made bank on PLTR...

You don't like Trump so you're never going to like anything he does. Same with musk.

Hes cutting but he's not cutting like you want him to.

Sometimes you need to blow it up and start over. I'm for blowing it up. He blew up USAID which you of all people should have applauded. It's been proven if you care to pull your blinders off that it was largely an extension of the DNC. But maybe you're really ok with the DNC grift.

And places they use like the VA and DHA are getting hacked up without an analysis of what's going on.

Then you didn't understand what you read or ignored the parts that made you uncomfortable. This has nothing to do with liking the people doing the cuts. This is exactly what Musk did at twitter that caused their infrastructure to buckle until he ran around hiring back engineers at a higher cost. This time we're talking about things like the VA which actually matters and affects human lives. Some 19yo dev has no clue what that actually means

Not to mention they are outright lying about the cuts being made and you're clapping like a drunken seal while they do. I've always asked for honesty and transparency but we get neither from this admin

oh, so you ALSO have a problem with DOGE then? finally admitting they aren't perfect, and maybe they should be doing something else?

they are cutting whole departments and having to hire some of them back.

we have a poster going on about how their cuts are also going to shut down the VA hospitals.

you are assuming what DOGE is doing is actually going to lead to savings. I just see another government department that already looks as incompetent and successful as the rest of the government. while Congress just continues to spend spend spend.

Yes, USAID was rightfully gutted. But 99.99% of the actual cutting so far has been D priorities. They were complete waste and should have been cut.

Now, take this approach to the largest discretionary line item (defense) instead of giving them another nearly 20% budget increase.....
