Recruiting Football Talk VIII

What a slimeball move by Rickey Gibson and “his team”. To agree to a deal, and then crawfish on it when a teammate gets hurt, because you believe you can extort your team for more.
You won't hear me cry a bit if we let him walk and the guy we get to fill his spot has some bad plays. The fans would hate me as a coach, because I'd hand out walking papers to players who do this and probably lose some games because of it.

Lane will be looking for her now but seriously, how can a dad do this to his own son and its not the 1st time he cheated on his wife, she is stupid enough to keep taking him back and the son took her back.Only at Ole Miss

Could you fire an employee for this behavior in their personal life? I guess so, if it reflects badly on the corporation. I'd fire his butt off the planet.

That ritual is down to like a 96.5% success rate. . .

Maybe it's still 100% if we don't manipulate the results, if they just post without being coaxed into posting.
True. You can't just sacrifice a VN copperhead...... they have to want to "Give their all for TENNESSEE".

*They seem to like Mr Bean gifs and canned chili talk. 🤔

Good business move by his team tbh

Gibson was given a more lucrative deal in the winter, agreed to it, and is now going back on that agreement. Depends on whether you want short or long-term business relationships. Short-term, he'll get more money somewhere. Long-term he's signaling he's a mercenary and nothing more.

Interesting to take a shot at fans for being anti-player a couple of days ago, but laud players for being only about themselves. Fans invest time and $ with the only potential return being emotional. Players invest a great deal, but get a monetary return on their investment.

To me, if fans are willing to support the program without asking for any tangible return, they have the right to criticize players who put that program/investment at risk: whether it's by going back on their agreements (Gibson) or by running their mouth at inopportune times or without backing it up (Hadden).

Going to need to be hotter against Bama. Our D will slow them down some, but they go on runs that can hurt us. Ole Miss can be beat with strong D and just OK shooting.

All of it is subject to the officiating - which is horrendous. It is shameful how bad it is in general across the spectrum of basketball. They watch guys take 3-4 steps or carry the ball - no call. They watch guys get hammered and grabbed within three feet of them - no call. Then if somebody drives the lane, throws up garbage and flops to the floor - foul. If somebody comes within a foot of a three pointer and the shooter flops - foul. Rebounder in position, gets shoved out of the way or out of bounds - no foul. Campers with tents in the lane for 10+ seconds - no call.

No question in my mind the refs will try to foul Okpara out of the game against Bama since he is the shot blocker that can cancel Sears driving the basket. Millic and Phillips will need to play well.
And Sears is the worst to drive the lane, throw up garbage, and flop to get a foul called. He does it all the time, and they call it almost every time.

@butchna

Reading where Omar Norman-Lott is shooting up draft boards even before the Combine. Could be a steal in the draft for a team.. also viewed where Jeanty predicted to Raiders and Hampton getting drafted by Cowboys at #12.
Too early for these mocks to be informed. Better guessing begins this weekend. Hampton has been as low as fourth round and high as you stated…without breaking a single tackle since November. Lots of stocks rising and falling running in shorts and answering questions the correct way. Best teams sift through the data and find the PLAYERS.

Meanwhile the state owes them millions of dollars.

This doesn't make any sense, it's a damn shame.
They have a beautiful campus in a very prime location. Sadly it wouldn’t be the first time a state underfunded a school, museum, hospital, or any other institution that served the public in order to get their hands on valuable property in order to sell it to cronies. I don’t know if that’s the case here but TSU has a sound reputation. They are a viable institution that serves a public need, especially with a growing population.

I really hope they get the funding they need.

Screw Gibson....and screw all of the player ***lickers in here defending this pos move.

This is a pure scumbag move...I now despise him and want him gone.

I hate this...it has become exactly what I thought it would.

None of this is good.

I’ve given to volunteer club since the beginning. I buy merchandise so the players I like can get a little something. I go to games every year with kids and went to Osu game with wife. I know my measly $1,200 a year doesn’t equate to the big total. I’m all for paying kids but holding a school hostage and guys who have got you here. I find less joy in recruiting battles than I used too. Then actions like Gibson’s… just make it hard. Fall is most beautiful time of year maybe it’s time..

Preach Enki. You simply cannot give into this behavior. It will become never ending and lead to a mess. I would escort him out of the facility, never to be seen again. Don’t care if he’s Bo Jackson. Character matters!

Yeah sadly with all these proposed expansions for Nashville I've been wondering if any of the public schools, museums or even hospitals would find themselves being slowly moved out to make room.

NHL team, NFL team, talks of adding WNBA, speculation of relocating NBA team there...and even MLS/MLB rumors. Only so much space in/around Nashville...

NIL will be regulated eventually but not before agents milk this period for all it’s worth. Unlike in the NFL, agents for college players take almost twice the percentage they’d normally get. They have incentive to sign as many deals as often as possible to keep getting cuts and they’re using transfer periods to sign new deals to get new cuts (even when it’s nearly the same deal that agent is taking a fresh cut).

At this point I don’t really blame the players. There’s been more than case where agents are shopping them around without their knowledge (one player lost his place at a school they were happy with because of an agent doing this and there’s been plenty of stories circulating).

We have a regulatory vacuum right now.

Yeah same, I'd make it clear to the team that any sort of negotiations etc. happen during a certain evaluation period and that once they make the choice to enter the portal they're closing the door. Harsh reality, but a team sport where the majority of your paycheck is being written by the fanbase requires some sort of loyalty.

Transfer Portal being closed until April 16th and Spring practice starts in a few weeks, so any talks or leaking of plans to enter the portal is being done for one reason. Greed.

Bo doesn't get hurt he may have gone down as the best athlete ever. Even though it pains me to say it I think that title goes to Herschel Walker, don't talk to me about stats, he was simply a freak of nature I saw it with my own eyes.
He was an absolute freak athlete. No man that big and powerful should be out there running 4.2 forty.
