Not another regime change war... those worked out so well.

Perhaps we should push our citizens to stop using drugs.

Unless you’re claiming the cartels are in charge, I don’t think anyone other than Ras is calling this “regime change”

Nearly a dozen dismembered bodies of missing students vacationing in Mexico were discovered along a highway.

Some remains were stuffed inside an abandoned car, concealed beneath a blood-soaked tarp, while others were scattered nearby.

A bag filled with eight severed hands was also located.

The victims reportedly bore bullet wounds and signs of brutal torture.

Now is not the time to be vacationing in Mexico until it’s cleaned up along the border

The article isn't clear. Were these US students?

We're headed there in a couple weeks and I'm not really worried. It would be like saying not to visit Orlando because there were murders in Detroit

I don't think so.
That was my impression as well.

I'm not sure how this all will affect American tourists/expats.

The cartels have been pretty careful not to mess with US citizens in Mexico. There was an episode where some AZ 20-somethings crossed the border for some cheap surgery. Cartel underlings thought they were rival gang and kidnapped/killed them. The cartel members responsible were found cuffed to their car with an apology letter to the US, from the Cartel, stating that they acted on their own and the cartel has a no-American/civilian policy.

Rumor is the Cartel leaders are running scared and going into hiding right now, with Trump's saber rattling and military build-up at the border. I'm not sure they are willing right now to escalate things by killing Americans.

But still, the wife and I are staying away from MX until further notice.

I don't know how true it is but I heard/saw where the cartels are heavily invested in the tourist areas of Mexico. Cancun and Cabo areas and they keep the violence out.

I've heard similar. In fact 2 of my kids have been on a mission trip to an orphanage on the western side of Mexico. Very safe because the cartel protects the orphanage.
