Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Applied to a TDEC job in Nashville a few weeks ago. Several friends from UT work for TDEC now. Haven't heard back from the job I applied for yet. One issue I've run into is that the jobs I'm qualified for I'm not eligible to apply because they're restricted to current state employees only. The jobs I'm overqualified for won't pay enough for us to afford the move due to the current rent and home prices.

Welcome to the crux of having a PhD. Job pool is smaller, but your starting salary is better if you can find someone looking for your knowledge base.

With all the dissension in America now I am glad to know the RF agrees we have the best forum on the site.
Sometimes I wonder if it’s a lie we tell ourselves and we’re just arrogant aholes that are just as insecure and messed up and dim witted and foolish for the time we spend keeping up with and basing our emotional attachment to the decisions of people who can’t even legally buy a beer yet… Then I go to another forum and see a thread about how Heupel is not the guy because he wears his hat backwards occasionally. And I am reassured that despite the aforementioned being partially true and that there are certainly better and healthier uses of our time to be had, that yes, we do generally have a higher quality of dialogue and content here in the RF. And that brings me an oddly placed sense of peace.

This morning, walked out side. After mumbling to myself about Sally and demise of humans, then moving the cars in and out of driveway to ward off the bad spirits, then skipping back. I couldnt help but think, someone or something was watching me.

Acer Fremanii.
Little did you know, the squirrel was having the same thoughts about cars vs squirrels and hoping that you did not see it in the tree.

I’m suspicious that it’s the request of some hater or troll.
@JCVol00 seems aight. Think he’s who asked for it.

I do though question for his health the desire to watch the losses. Pretty obvious what our Achilles heals are (no need to relive the pain):

1. Odd defensive fronts (like eerily so). I think it’s because our offense has a much tougher time creating mismatches when we can’t get 4 yards between the tackles whenever we want.
2. Drive Killing Offensive Penalties (typically due to defensive lineman superiority over our oline (looking at your recruiting woes elarbee), and opposing crowds disrupting communication and timing).
3. Talent mismatches (specifically on the perimeter, with quick passes over the top of our defense when in man coverage). Defensive Back talent has been lacking for some time (while I believe their coaching has improved and proved over time, Martinez and banks keep losing top battles or losing top commits in the final hour). Last year was probably our best year yet. Thank you to whoever is responsible for bringing us jermod.
4. Wide Receivers Dropped passes. Hate to pick on pope because he’s a great recruiter but he really needs to elevate his coaching and management of our wideouts. Too many dropped balls too often.

2-3 of these things should be able to be solved with coaching both in scheme and technique. Whatever the reason, we haven’t quite been able to or been willing to address it. The other is the same problem that 97% of college football faces: 9/10 times not being able to match or otherwise overcome the talent of the recruiting elites (currently uga, osu, Oregon, Texas, bama). Is what it is until it isn’t.
