The Atlanta Braves

I’ve had cable forever. I am on the ‘new customer price’ all the time. Promo runs out, my bill goes up one month, I call them, I request the retention department, eventually make it to the person who magically finds the same discount code I’ve always had.

Takes about 15 min every 24 months but I pay way less for way more than the streamers.
Just pulled this one off. Only got a year but 0 price increase is great

I do that with SiriusXM except every 12 months.

I split YTTV with 2 buddies (who both live in TX, I'm in GA and I don't even charge them for NFL Sunday Ticket). Occasionally I'll have to delete them and re-add them (maybe once every six months) because of the zip code "visiting" difference.

Let's run it back.

Imagine if that guy was our football coach, with the same track record. The football equivalent would be what, this probably?

2021: SEC title game appearance, Playoff appearance
2022: SEC title, playoff appearance
2023: Playoff appearance, advance a round
2024: SEC title, playoff appearance, national championship

We'd probably be wanting to add his name to the stadium already.

Flexibility over winning

Everyone who goes over the luxury tax has to reset the luxury tax eventually. The Dodgers did it a few years back. The Yankees did in 2021. If we're going to remain a top 5 payroll team, we're gonna end up having off-seasons like this periodically. The MLB really needs a hard cap and floor. What the Marlins, A's, Rays, and Pirates are doing is just as bad for the game of baseball as what the Dodgers are doing.
