February 7, 1812 (Reelfoot Lake is formed)

From December 16, 1811 through March of 1812 there were over 2,000 earthquakes in the central Midwest, and between 6,000-10,000 earthquakes in the Bootheel of Missouri where New Madrid is located near the junction of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers.

In the known history of the world, no other earthquakes have lasted so long or produced so much evidence of damage as the New Madrid earthquakes. Three of the earthquakes are on the list of America's top earthquakes: the first one on December 16, 1811, a magnitude of 8.1 on the Richter scale; the second on January 23, 1812, at 7.8; and the third on February 7, 1812, at as much as 8.8 magnitude.
After the February 7 earthquake, boatmen reported that the Mississippi actually ran backwards for several hours. The force of the land upheaval 15 miles south of New Madrid created Reelfoot Lake, drowned the inhabitants of an Indian village; turned the river against itself to flow backwards; devastated thousands of acres of virgin forest; and created two temporary waterfalls in the Mississippi. Boatmen on flatboats actually survived this experience and lived to tell the tale.

If, or should I say..when..the New Madrid fault goes haywire again....we are all screwed. I hope I leave this earth before any of our natural disasters in waiting goes off....it's going to be really really bad for all of us if Yellowstone blows, or if the Juan de ***a, New Madrid or San Andreas have super quake or series of quakes in 8.1 or higher range directly in the heavy population centers...

Ps...come on mods...it's pretty stupid when you type out F...U...C..A. and it blanks it out.

Sitting here crying like a baby, I didn’t understand why for a minute. Then it hit me, I’ve been bottling up my feelings for a couple of weeks.
I haven’t said anything on here because people have their own problems and don’t need me piling on.
Our 13yo grandson tried to commit suicide, praise the Lord he’s ok🙏🏻 We’ve had him stay with us a couple of days and he‘s now getting professional help but it took us all by surprise.
Please pray for our family and especially Levi🙏🏻
Jesus please help him and your family...🙏

Thank you all for the kind words, especially the prayers🧡 I held Levi minutes after he was born and I thought my heart was full, but that night after, when I finally got to speak with him…..my heart, I tried to hold it together but failed miserably. He has the sweetest soul, he’s funny, the biggest cut up ever and loves his grandmother completely.
I can’t say a lot but it wasn’t bulling at school.
Our neighbor found his 11yo son hanging in his bedroom closet 10 years ago. It haunts him to this day.
All I know to do is tell him I love him so much and lift him up in pray to my Lord and Savior🙏🏻
again thank y’all so much🧡

If In-n-out is another overpriced, chain hamburger joint, then I'm not interested. Freddy's, 5 Guys, Culver's, Mooya, are all too expensive for what you get. Most of them are the exact same mashed down hamburger patty. The fries are about the only difference at these places.

We used to go to Steak and Shake a lot, when the boys were younger. We could take the boys and a few coupons and walk out of there for under $20. It's close to $20 at 5 Guys.....just for a cheese burger, fries, and a drink.

*I don't eat a lot of fast food but if I go through a drive thru for a hamburger, it's going to be Wendy's.

May God’s perfect love find you and your family.

I will pray for you and Levi’s full recovery in mind, body and spirit.

Peace and Love for you and yours.

God’s got you.

If In-n-out is another overpriced, chain hamburger joint, then I pass.

Agree. My OK style onion smash burgers at home kick their ass anyway.
