Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2025-26

Congrats to Aja and all, but doesn't it seem backwards to have your jersey retired several years after getting a freakin statue erected?

Wonder if poor Johnnie Harris is feeling heat in the seat? They expected to be much better this year.
Evidently schools have their own rules about when jersey numbers can be retired. One thing for sure is that number 22 will never be worn by another South Carolina basketball player.

Alex English wore 22 and it was retired years ago.

Right now I think it's pretty clear that Hannah H is the best player in the country. She's just playing better than JuJu right now. could have alot to do w coaching and system, and could change. But if the award was today, it's Hannah all the way.

Lauren Betts has been great, but she suffers the big guy curse. She's successful parrtially just bc she's so much bigger than everyone else. But she'd be my #2.

Yeah KY is 8-1 but they still have to play Ole Miss, TX, LSU, So Car and us (plus GA and Mizz). I think they lose 3 of those at least and finish 4th.

They'd have to basically lose them all (except GA and Mizz) and us win out for us to catch them forr 4th.

Amore had 43 pts today!
Amoore was saying "hold my beer" to all of those saying she couldn't be successful in the SEC and she also somewhat summed up what a 5-6 guard can do in the SEC. It's about how you play the game, not the size of the player....

Amore, like other smaller guards, benefit from having quality bigs to play with. Key, Strack, and Hassett make life alot easier for her.

How about the Lakers trading for Luka one of the best in the world at this time...

Could be a little biased since I'm a Lakers fan since the mid 70's...

The Mavs org got tired of Doncic's immature lack of discipline with his body health. His fluctuating weight has played a likely role in his injuries, but he never learns his lesson.

This was such a shocker, and may be what ends up making him finally grow up and take his body's health and fitness seriously. At only 25, if he does grow up and starts being more disciplined, he could certainly be a future multi-year MVP winner.

That is not all together true. The jersey can be retired but the numbers cannot. That was changed in 2007. They changed it to jerseys and not numbers. I doubt that anyone will be assigned that number....but they can do it.

Luca was going to be elig for the Super Max contract - 345 million (!?!) next year. I don't think Mavs wanted that with someone perpetually out of shape. Esp as he approaches 30 the next few yrs. With Lakers he's not elig for that.

But if I could be as good for him while being overweight and out of shape, it would be really hard to get out of bed for those early morning workouts.

All I really care about is how all of this affects Dalton Knecht whose pt has been trending down lately.

Amoore’s shooting totally stinks this season.

Kentucky has two plays

1) Amoore bricks a screen off the pick and roll
2) Amoore gives to Strack on the give and go off the pick and roll.

So really one play with two outcomes. Outside of that? Nada. They do not have any serviceable third option in their offense.
If missing the mark is the objective, this guy is still batting 1000%.

DK may be part of a package to trade away to get a big to replace AD. DK may be wearing a Utah Jazz uniform by the weekend.

BTW. Luka out of shape is still better than 99.9% of the rest in NBA.

The W ax continues to swing. Victoria Saxon just got waived as did Amiehere. No worrd if the they, along w Zia Cooke, will catch on w one of the franchises desperrately needing a roster.

Also no official word on Mercedes Russell, but pretty sure she won't be back w Seattle.

Utah Jazz. Ewww, David!

Agree on Luka. Imagine if he does decide to take body care seriously? 😲 The ūber-disciplined Lebron James could be exactly what Doncic needs to be even more spectacular than he already is. It's hard to even imagine Luka being an even more dominant player, but I think he will be.

Checking the rankings and saw Cal at #23
Thought, *What the heck, let's see how Marta is doing."

Our former player is having a solid season, averaging 12.9 ppg (3rd highest), around 6.7 rpg and 2.3 assists. Fg %: 48.5% two's, 39.8% three's, 81% FT. Leading scorer four times - leading rebounder 7 games. Only apparent flaw is almost 4 turnovers per game.

Anyway, nice to see that Marta has found a home where she is averaging around 28 minutes.

If you look at each teams‘ remaining schedule for SEC games, it will be interesting to see who claims the 4 spot at the end of the season. Ky is a good team, but of their remaining 7 games, they will be the underdog in four or five of those games. OM will be underdogs in 3 or 4. If it plays out chalk, they will both end up around 10-6 (Plus or minus one game either way). Vandy should finish around the same, prob 9-7.

UT could crash the party by sweeping their remaining games. Helps that they still have OM and KY on the schedule still. At LSU would be a must win. The game in Baton Rouge will show if the team has had growth since the last matchup against them in Tenn. Hard fight from here, but within reach.

I’d tell you all my pizza joke, but I’m afraid it’s a little too cheesy.

A marquee type game tonight….should be a close one, surprised Duke is favored on the road.
