Which is why I've found internal movement far harder than external when you're talking about increasing base salary. Not only does your current employer know your salary history already, but I've found most companies have internal mechanisms to keep your payrate at a level lower than they'd have to pay the same candidate from outside.

Things like broad paybands that overlap, making internal moves 'lateral' or minimal at best. Or imaginary percentages they're not allowed to go over? It's truly a benefit for your current employer to bank on you're loyalty, and excitement about a new opportunity that allows them to be only competitive enough so you don't look elsewhere.

I've lost three members of my team this month to outside opportunities where they've added 50 and 60% to their base, where the normal 3% review or 5% promotion internally didn't come close.
So True. In my career, I changed jobs three times receiving large pay raises each time. That would not have happened if I had stayed with the original company. (ok, yes, I changed jobs earlier in my career but without looking for large pay bumps). Sad that you have to leave the company to get what you are worth but those HR Departments making decisions often are not living in the 'real world'.

Every major pay bump for me was from leaving the company too. Internal promo = 5-10%, external = 20-25%

Got bored so I went and put in every single player we’ve recruited since Heupel has been coach (2022-2025 classes so far) and wanted break it down by position. Yes I know Heupel was here in 21.

Average recruiting ranking by position group:
- QB: .935 (usually top 150 area)
- DL: .9145 (usually around the top 250 area)
- TE: .908(usually top 300 area)
- WR: .906 (usually top 300 area)
- OL: .8956 (usually around the 400 area)
- LB: .8933 (usually in the 400 area)
- RB: .89 (usually around the 450 area)
- Secondary: .8843 (usually in the 550 area)

This includes EVERY player that has committed to us via HS/Portal.
Sounds about right. I think our LB room talent will continue to improve with Inge. Hopeful that our WR room talent continues to better as these top tier QBs keep rolling in. Keep CRG as long as possible. Gotta figure out how to bolster OL talent. That was something that doomed Dooley and butch amongst many things. I think Heupel must understand the value of a strong OL in this league and the playoffs and for retaining those top QBs, so not losing commitments of the Utus and Andersons of the world needs to get figured out. Beyond that I’ve always thought a strong secondary was key to any defense. Don’t lose the battle up front and don’t lose it on the back end. I like who we have when all healthy but also really hope we can start landing and keeping top tier talent back there. I’ve started to believe in Martinez more and the retention of Banks will be good for the safeties we have, just imagine what we could do with some athletically superior guys out there.

Aren’t those all qb graveyards? At least in recent memory.

They seem a bit entitled to me. Can’t be a top pick, and go to a team that has it all figured out out. Just doesn’t work like that. Like, maybe just be grateful anyone wants half a deion to be the qb and face of their organization?

I must not be strong enough in my faith. I'm looking for the best person for the job (politician) and in that, I don't require that the person honors the Lord. Blasphemy.

Off to pray.
It's okay, there is not a politician alive that has a soul, much less honors anything but the almighty dollar.
