Was talking to my (big) kids on Christmas, we were talking about how good we have it as Americans in 2024. I mentioned that we all eat better than Solomon did ... the richest man that ever lived in his day. Unfortunately food is full of stuff that will kill you these days, but the variety is crazy. Watched video too of an immigrant from Cuba on his first trip to Costco...he had tears in his eyes in the meat section. Its OK to enjoy the good things in life like food man. You gotta die from something...
 
Years ago in Houston we hired a new office administrator who was an immigrant from Ukraine. She always sent me email..in ALL CAPS..

After a few, I responded why are you always yelling at me. Never got a response, but must of upset her, because when I saw her, she said she had spoken to someone else in office and was wondering why I would say such a thing..She was told what in meant in America and became quite embarrassed and apologized to me.. Poor thing..lol

In the video for Pancho and Lefty, Merle Haggard is never seen riding a horse. It is a stuntman. Haggard couldn't ride a horse.

It would seem a bit odd for one of the all-time great C&W performers, but probably not.

I came across a video that said not to use greater than a MERV 10 air filter on HVAC system, as it said you could damage it if air flow becomes restricted when dirty resulting in a high pressure drop.

I cannot square how or what would be damaged. The motor amp draw will actually drop from less fan air mass, although I dont think the ODP motor winding cooling would be affected either as it is not in the HVAC air flow stream, I dont think. Even if TEFC motor. Even said youcould damage the evaporator, but really since there is less air to be cooled, the refrigerant would not absorb as much heat load as it should. Now obviously the system would not be as efficient as it would need to run longer for same effect, leading to reduced life cycle, but that isnt ”damage” in my mind.

Now I have seen compresor pumps fail as you increase the pressure ratio on the pump. You pull a greater vacuum on the inlet side with a normal discharge pressure, no different than raising the discharge pressure above the design. Pressure is heat, hence valves and such can fail. But in this instance, we are not considering a mechanical pump, just a fan, which is really a pump in itself. Surely they are not talking “damage” to a fan. But then again, it does increase the pressure ratio, or does it if it is pulling less amps?

Things to ponder. Guess I will go MERV 8 and call it a day.
