Samp needs to work on his fumbling issues or he will be out of the league quick or buried on practice squad
Why is everyone Johnny majors now? I remember when people would get frustrated to wits end with majors keeping ballers in the doghouse for fumbling and i remember by the early 2000s the narrative was an all american caliber running back who fumbles is worth eating the fumbles over.

the last back i can remember people nagging about fumbling was Arian Foster and that dude had a superpower for fumbling when the game was on the line in the 4th qtr

We need collective bargaining, a commissioner, long term contracts, etc. And to hold on to what makes college sports great.

Yes

Yes - one that looks out for the long-term, national game, not just their conference

Yes

One way or another, the fans and coaches will likely push this over the edge and the unis and conferences will have to eat it. Pay the players as employees already, it's time.

Whatever Barnes and Tony is doing is working. Tony V it seems like signs a top 25 players in the nation weekly in baseball and picked up a bunch of studs in the portal too. Barnes hit with Knecht and Lanier and also Igor, Okpara. Even Kim hit with a bunch of portal transfers for Lady Vols too and signed what a top 5 class coming in???

If I was Heup, I would be asking Tony V what the magic touch is. I can't imagine we are spending more on baseball or even basketball then football which was always our bread and butter for the program.

I think most of that is Tony V being the best and most popular coach in the country who consistently puts guys in the league. Tough ask for Heupel.

I'll see you fellers down the road. 🙋‍♂️

I am not going to be able to handle the cancerous toxicity, venomous vitriol, and pure corrosive stupidity that I know is going to fill this place for a long time.

Before I go...I'm going to say this to all those good ol Vols in understandable hurt and despair, and also to the loud mouthed, totally imbecilic Idiot Margin that want to tear apart Josh Heupel and his staff, and everything that Josh Heupel and his staff have near miraculously accomplished in far faster time than anybody with a functioning brain thought possible..

On Jan 2 1998 we had just gotten completely embarrassed 42-17 by a loaded Nebraska team that had been rolling through CFB like a combine through a field of corn for years and years.

All of us have forgotten how we felt at the moment..but deep in the night I remembered...it came back to me.

We were losing our all-everything QB, we all thought our defense had been exposed as a total soft fraud, and we were losing a few important pieces off of that defense including our all-everything 1st round draft pick defensive end.

Nobody talks about this much since then...but the future did not look bright, we all thought we had blown our shot...that we were frauds..and so did the country...but..

Twelve months and two days later...on January the 4th 1998 we stood on the top of CFB as undefeated National Champions.

We know we have a long way to go...but tearing everything apart and going nuclear toxic is completely stupid.

See y'all later...UEM out 🙋‍♂️
See ya in 4 months when we hoist another trophy 😁

But I get it. So many idjits at the moment over one, single game after an amazing season 😅 Weaksauce galore.

Portal and NIL are huge factors in our baseball and basketball. If you want to claim that football is diverting more money that way than other "football schools," that would be fair. Not sure what "pure" is supposed to mean in your claim.
From a players perspective you and I both know it’s not nearly as leveraged as it is in football. Hell up until last year we were only allotted roughly 11 scholarships for baseball. Just as Kirby’s dad has said numerous times in the baseball forum, the NIL deals for baseball players are several MAGNITUDES less than that of basketball or football, just like the top line revenue.

Yea now he is but he worked his tail off to get to this point. Nobody even watched Tenn baseball pretty much till he came in and started recruiting studs and keeps at it even with a natty. But I've been most impressed how fast of a start Kim has started and the class she has coming in. She was smart enough in my opinion to go out and get two great recruiters in the coach from Bama and the Cuban assistant coach.

Our best recruiter for football is Rodney Garner and he is getting retirement age soon and so is Willie M another good recruiter. We did sign a top 10 - 11 recruiting class but we really need to be top 8 at least IMO to stay with the big dogs of the SEC and in the country.

Ive researched the **** out of the cartels since Narcos, snd subsequent shows, articles, and regional stories.

I've been shocked they haven't been 1 of the top 3 political issues over the last 20 years.

Comparitive studies - is their organizational structure better than the mafioso and 5 families at its peak?

The competing complaints of “too negative” and “only sunshine pumpers allowed” seem pretty balanced right now, on the whole. Good sign, IYAM.

Obviously, the negative is going to outweigh the positive the week following a bad loss.

One thing is for sure. In terms of supply chain economics, Cartels are unmatched. They have trafficking, laundering, and operations down to an exact science. An organization that commands an industry from Austrailia to Canada, with profits potentially higher than Mexican Gov't.

i'd say Texas Tech would win all the games. TTU's HBC would live in an underground mansion in Texas Hills with multiple egresses. Have lions, bears, and hippos in backyard, with live action amusement park for kids.
Have you read the Don Winslow books? Recommend

We still have lots of talent on our football team but what makes me nervous is as it stands right now, we will have true freshmen playing a large roll next year for both WR and RB if any upperclassman gets hurt and we all saw this year our depth start to dwindle as the season went on where we were basically playing true freshmen at WR and RB especially last several games.

What are the deals for the baseball players who portal in? And you have to compare that to what other baseball programs are paying for players to transfer. We are close to being the number 1 NIL team in baseball, along with LSU.

Football right now is right where baseball was when we lost to ND in the super we hosted. People are overreacting. But the story is not over in football either. The difference is it's a lot more affordable to own the portal in baseball. The 11 scholarship rule was the result of Title IX. Another difference is that most of who would be the big money players go straight to pro baseball, so there is not a big NIL fight over those guys. And I am a huge Vols Baseball and Basketball fan, as you know.

Football brings in the money. That's a primary reason football NIL is so high. Everyone rides the football train. Including Kim.

Paying the players isn’t the problem it’s that you’re an unrestricted free agent every single year. You shouldn’t get unlimited transfers… also make these punks sign contracts. Everyone says “oh well a coach can leave any time and it’s not a problem” yeah they are on contracts where they either buy them out or their new employer does. It’s stupid. NIL is great and players deserve money. They do not deserve to hold institutions hostage every offseason.

We've hardly begun in the portal.

Nobody will know what the roster looks like for 9 more months.

What we do know is we just keep winning under Heupel, even through constant change, portal losses, etc.

We're good 🥱

Yes, even the biggest anti-paying player folks will eventually get it.

Employment contracts are the crab of sports.

"Everything eventually becomes a crab"

It's tried and true. It's what every major pro sports league ends up with...because contracts work and are logical.

Yup. Until contracts are a thing it will be like the wild West every year. Contracts need to be drawn up that have stipulations and if the player does not meet these stipulations...you don't get your money.

One thing I noticed this year with our WR besides having a hard time creating separation and getting open was when they are covered, I noticed our WR's just give up and never come back to the ball or try to break free and get open and help out Nico. Is it just me or did anyone else see the same?
yes. the only time they got separation is when nico was across the los and the defenders abandoned coverage to pursue Nico. The starting 3 were banged up all year and the only backup i saw laying blocks was Matthews

Yep. They need a heavy dose of the real world. Sadly a lot of these portal hoppers will chase a bag and blow it then never get a real job. It’s all “business decisions” until they get treated like real employees. Most couldn’t handle the NFL structure even if they had the talent.
