Really impressed by his size and speed. Hopefully he turns into a beast. What is everyone’s thoughts on the play calling offensively last night ? I do believe we need some WRs that can catch the ball like Tillman used to and get open that’s important. But much much time before next season starts sadly.

A better wide receiver coach , I don't gripe to much about our coaches but we have really regressed on the field getting open

Jereimiah Smith & Egbuka are the type of receivers needed at Tennessee. They ruled the field Saturday. Of course, their QB have enough time to get the ball to them.
Those guys also had plays designed to get them the ball in space. We don't do that. We send everyone vertical and rarely scheme the middle of the field and honestly that is where Nico does his best.

Lewis is a BEAST i remember I was asking dad when that huge dread dude would come in, dad's like dude he's not huge, I guess i just seen him truck so many dudes he plays like a big boi and will definitely add weight especially squats wise

ALL TN NEEDS is LB depth (haven't seen 1 person mention) , WR recruits (#1 prio), find a GOOD wr coach sorry if you like em but he got an F from me.

Secondary will be more seasoned next year. We ****ing are an awesome team

Nico [true] year 2 is going to be a show!!

Oklahoma UF and Alabama will be better next year but we will be better. We have some luck regarding some big games being at home [Georgia, OU] Bama at Bama won't be bad their stadium is dog [crap]

That little trap game Arkansas will lose by 14

A 10-1, 9-2 playoff team with ACTUAL CFP EXPERIENCE FOR ONCE

My Grandson played on Lewis’ HS team in Salem, VA and my son in law coached him in rec football too. Says he’s great when healthy, was injured a lot though. On sports talk, heard that the UT players said he was the fastest player on the team; faster than squirrel!

Also, for some reason, our WRs can't stay healthy. Think our WR talent is reflective of their general recruiting ranking, and for sure, we need to figure out adjustments to scheme, as teams w/ top level DBs seem to have figured us out...think need more mis-direction/motion, and OSU put on a clinic on the WR motion, play in the flats...we got nothing like that in our playbook.

Brazzle was open. In the end zone. Unobstructed momentum changing TD off the shoulder pads. We need guys that can actually catch the ball. And I hope Nico improves more this off-season than he did over hte season. Which was realtively flat improvement-wise. Won't ever really know until we get a respectable receiver corp.

Yep plays need to be designed to protect receivers. Our receivers barely have time to catch the ball before getting slammed. So there must be something to what you say re--scheme.

NEVER impressed with Brazzle. I question whether he actually caught that TD vs bama. NO HANDS. And hears footsteps. I mean he came from Tulane. Big time schools aren't taking transfers from tulane. (as a rule)

I think Matthews is that guy
Apparently he couldn't get open saturday either. Think I heard his name once for being on the field, but never actually saw him, or if he was even targeted. I've heard all this talk about him, so why did he never get teh promotion. As many balls as Nimrod and Brazzles left on the ground all year, I would have had Matthews on regular rotation by game 3 if he's all that. Geez, look at that freshamn at Bama, or OSU and sveral other places. Those guys are 100 legit. I'm all for what the coaches see and know. I'm not one and this ain't baseball or I would exercise knowledge of play and coaching. But...I'm still on the fence on Nico. Statistically, he has been on a flat plane all year and has not progressed at all. And I'm not sure about these cool cat guys. At some point a leader has to voice up and lead.

But, he gets ton of credit for lowering his head and grinding it out saturday. Didn't seem to inspire any of his teammates. Not his fault. but he took a beating trying to help out and do his part.

Is that a WR Coach issue or lack of speed issue by the players? We don’t have a Hyatt running routes with speed.

If he doesn't transfer. If I were him, I'd enter the portal today.
We need to transform was upperclassman up to best man up.

In my eyes, if we are supposed to have such a loaded receiver room...and you got guys like Nimrod and Brazzle starting...And White/Thornton/Bru fragile most of the season...and guys like Matthews/Leacock and others not geting rotations and some already portaled....exactly how loaded is this receiver room. Not to mention game plans that treat very capable TE's as after thoughts.

Why Michigan? Why transfer at all? He’s probably gonna be a starter next year .
Bryce Underwood, but after I posted that I edited it because even with Underwood Michigan is going to be a heavy run offense.

Tennessee is not a WR friendly place to be right now. I don't know how that's changed so dramatically in the past two years but when you don't attempt downfield passes and your OC can't figure out a way to create good matchups for you it's going to be tough to impress NFL scouts.

Since the end of 2022, Tennessee's offense has morphed into a place where WRs don't get opportunities to make plays. We didn't attempt any downfield passes against Ohio and I'll have to rewatch to confirm, but I don't think our WRs had a favorable matchup the whole game. By that I mean matched up against a LB. Jeremiah Smith found himself in that position multiple times and padded his stats as a result. Why don't our WRs ever get a chance to run away from LBs in open space? Our offensive coaches choked.

Question-- do you know how to [look at our recruits] but by position for each year? I really want to see each position since 2020 year by year if that makes sense, ty sir good post too

Don't see the reason for optimism for next season. We likely lose our entire IOL. Mays will be the biggest loss, but it'll be hard to adequately replace Spraggins. We don't have a OT that we can depend on. Our current WR's haven't shown the ability to consistently get open against good competition. We lose most of the two deep DL (Simmons, Eason, Thomas, Norman-Lott, Bailey, Pierce and probably Josephs). And, we lose the best RB in the SEC. After the butt-whipping Sat. night, how in the wide world of sports does anyone see us being a playoff contender in '25?
