If the first sentence were true you wouldn't be perceived as having become so rote and predictable. (but of course you knew that) And how lazy do you have to be to actually bolster the accusation by opening the the 2nd part with precisely the same old predictable Al Woodston bit? Even you have to see how obvious the problem is, right?

Anyway, sounds like an interesting project you have going, hope it works our for you. Take the time to get your head right before coming back and being the more entertaining alien troll we know you to be capable of being.

Well put. He's gotten lazy in his daily attention-whoring. Whether it was the election results, a head injury, or some sort of cranial parasite (which is likely malnourished), the guy's obviously slipping.

Yes. It is. Other crazy stuff - Argentina's 2023 annual inflation was the highest in the world at 211.4%. In January 2024, Argentina’s poverty rate reached 57.4%, the highest poverty rate in the country since 2004.

This is a weird personal thing, but as many of you know, I served a Mormon mission. One of my mission companions was Argentine. About a year ago, he was arrested for assaulting his neighbor* who is a cop. Me and some other ex-missionaries, gave him money for defense. His ruling came down today. He's gotta serve 8 years in prison. I am having trouble processing this today, and it's a little therapeutic to talk about it.

Tying it into this thread, all the while I've been thinking about how much has changed in the last year for Argentina. Seems like he's not even gonna recognize his country in 8 years.

*the story I got was that the neighbor kid throwing rocks caused damage multiple times to his roof, he confronted the neighbor multiple times, this time the neighbor threatened him, then said he was going to get his gun, and my friend clubbed him with a rod (one swing) and it ****ed the guy up pretty good.

That sucks.

Is that a typical sentence for assault with a weapon in Argentina or did he get punished because his neighbor is a cop?

IDK about what's typical. The guy was really badly hurt and he is a cop, so you expect they're more likely to accept whatever version of the story he has. I'm not surprised by 8 years, but I didn't really have an expectation.

This is a good guy and not a violent person. His wife said he had a career-threatening day at work (HVAC license problems) and then **** popped off with the neighbor. When we were companions, I did something that pissed him off so bad, and he didn't try to fight me or anything. Just calmly talked about it. He was one of the best basketball players in the whole mission (~100 guys) and we ran with the big boys in local rec centers in competitive games. I never saw him get heated with anybody. It just goes to show, people have limits to their sanity.

There a phrase that goes something like..."there's nothing more dangerous than a good man who has been pushed past his limit".

Any idea if they have an avenue for appeal? or early release for good behavior?
