Michigan taking the next step in flipping commits

That escalated quickly.

$$$
It is going to be interesting to see how these big money NIL players pan out over the next few years. There is going to come a point where the player is so enamored with their contract and fame that they drop off in ability. When you couple that with the fact that teams have less money to pay the necessary supporting cast around them, the law of diminishing returns is going to come into play.

Do you think we’ve gotten value in Nico if he’s being paid as rumored?

The money is a problem. Still, the one thing that most young players dream about is making it to the NFL. The schools that show they have the ability to coach up talent and prepare them for the next jump will still have a big advantage over the other schools. That's why this year is so important. Players will see that Heupel and his staff can bring out the best in them and get them ready for the next step. The $$$ in the NFL is much better than in the NCAA.

Well, Underwood apparently officially flipped earlier today.

Looks like the Wolverines got their man-with a huge assist from a bag of cash

Brian Kelly must be beginning to feel a warning sensation in his buttocks by this point. They're stuck with him at least through next year, but those Cajuns aren't gonna play around much longer.

This is insane and not really what NIL was originally trying to address.

The original intent was to allow the players to profit off of their name et al. That is something that would have come naturally for the best players. Now it is like a bidding war along with the gamble that said player "pans out".

The interesting thing is besides being stuck with the coaches; these teams that are promising these million dollar NIL deals to players will also be stuck with those even if the player doesn't bring success to the team. Both are gambles with money from others.

I think this craziness will start to die down if Underwood doesn't live up to the hype at Michigan. It will start to shift over to the big programs using Nil money to lure away proven QB'S from other schools.

While I agree with your sentiments, this is one of those situations where we shouldn't be throwing stones from our glass house.

I believe Nico was the first big time "bonus baby" wasn't he?
