Sometimes we get so caught up in the big picture, we lose sight of the incremental improvements.I think OT should be taxed as if it was the normal hourly amount.
like you work 4 hrs of OT at 1.5x, you are taxed for 4hrs of 1x.
same thing for bonuses. flat normal rate
not sure about commissions. not sure how, or if, they are treated differently. but I think whatever your commission is is your income.
*assuming income is to be taxed*
Good for ND. Even if it doesn't pass it helps keep the office controlling the tax rate in check.
It's inflationary. Do you think the salaried employees that don't get paid overtime and are currently making slightly more than those hourly employees aren't going to demand raises so they are getting paid more on a net pay basis than those hourly employees who aren't being taxed on overtime?are you against people keeping more of their income?
Can we discuss separate from fairness to salaried employees? Which I am happy to discuss after. It's inflationary. I honestly don't think there is a legitimate way to separate it. Work is work. Pay for one type of work shouldn't be exempted from income tax while other forms of pay for work are taxed. Can we discuss separate from fairness to salaried employees? Which I am happy to discuss after.
Ok. You're not getting what you want, ie eliminate all deducts, exempts, and credits.I honestly don't think there is a legitimate way to separate it. Work is work. Pay for one type of work shouldn't be exempted from income tax while other forms of pay for work are taxed.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: the government should not creating tax deductions, tax exemptions and tax credits that favor one group over another. Eliminate all of them, and lower the stated tax rates.
I don't think it will ever be an issue because it will never pass. However, I am against it because it would be discriminatory and the end result of it would be inflationary. I am for lowering all tax rates, which would decrease taxes for everyone without favoring one group over another.Ok. You're not getting what you want, ie eliminate all deducts, exempts, and credits.
Does that mean wage earners should not have a chance to be taxed less?
