Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Incoming thought is really nothing to do with what you said in this post...it just made me think about something that came to my mind when that play happened...

DCs ain't figured out 💩 about this offense...well other than the best you can hope for is that the QB misses wide open recievers all day if you do certain things, which is what happened against Okie, Arky, Florida and the first half of Alabama...they have gotten lucky that Nico ain't all there yet, and his OTs have issues, and his WRs sometimes drop the balls that are well thrown.

Could have easily hung 40+ on everybody we've played the last three weeks just by executing the plays that were there...the scheme ain't broke...we just have to execute better...the plays are still there.

That's how I've come to easily identify pure idiot know-it-all know-nothings...they open their dumb mouth and start spewing garbage about DCs figuring us out, or how the play calling sucks.
There is nothing to really figure out. Two things can stop this offense. One, lack of execution, that will stop it dead as it would any scheme. Two, being able to stop the run with a light box play shell zone coverage can slow it down. The problem is not many teams have the horses to stop the run with 5 men committed.
Our offensive problems have been 100 percent execution, period. Also Nico, until Saturday, has run the ball very little. Throw in the the threat of qb run and this offense becomes very difficult for defenses to manage.

You know what’s bringing joy to my Big Orange heart on this Victory Monday?

We are not the ones coming up with conspiracy theories as excuses for why we lost on the Third Saturday in October!! 😂
My conspiracy: they cheap shotted McCoy to get him out of the game so they could heave prayers to Williams, which they commenced to doing as soon as McCoy left the field

My deeper conspiracy: Bama somehow cheated in their first half vs UGA. Stealing signs or sideline comms, or something.

Some posters keep saying “open the offense up”…..it’s as open as all the WRs we’ve had running downfield that Nico hasn’t hit YET.

He sees them and hits them and everyone will be back on Heup being an offensive genius train, which he is.

Focusing on the what the media says will drive you to madness. Yes, it matters, because they're the ones who push the narratives that can shape the CFP's thinking, but I just can't be arsed to care much about what they say in the middle of the season. It'll work itself out. It was going to work itself out if we'd taken care of business against Carolina in 2022, too. Just keep doing your thing.
I think that a lot of people forget that the media is not a public service. They do stories and commentary to get ratings and clicks. Love it when someone says that an article is just click bait, everything is clickbait. Nothing gets more clicks than pissing off or pandering to a fanbase. The truth is irrelevant.
And as far as the CFP goes, they are all about ratings as well. They will create the matchups and storylines that will get the most eyeballs on the screen.

AJ McCarron crying on Twitter saying the same thing about us piping in crowd noise. Tuscaloosa? More like Tuscaloosers.

They're just not used to rowdy crowds at Brian Dennehy stadium.
Man I’ve heard some crazy conspiracy theories the last few years, but that one takes the cake.

I'm torn between wanting bama to lose every game they play and wanting them to win out to help our sos.
SOS won’t matter unless we have a ton of 1-loss teams ahead of us. TN gets in with 2 or fewer losses unless we screw the pooch against MSU or UK. Even a loss to Vandy with how they’ve been playing won’t hurt us.

Lance Heard played much better on Saturday. Also noticed that his technique was 100x better than in the previous 2 games. Maybe the ankle was the issue, who knows, but if we can get improved play from the oline moving forward we could be dangerous.

Nico will eventually start hitting those deep shots. Would like to get the offense on track these next 2 games.

I've convinced myself that I'd put Jakobe Thomas at outside LB of I were the coach.
I don't like our 4-3 look against 12 personnel. It was better this week than against FL but we lose more of those reps than we win. I would rather go 5-2 or our default base with Thomas at STAR to help with run support. He would be matched up with a TE on a pass which he could more than handle.

RB room is more than fine. It's elite. Bishop will go for 1,000 next year, Lewis or Seldon 600, Keith will grab a handful of red zone touchdowns + Baker coming in who I think is hugely underrated. I would love to see Morris but if not we likely are getting Hiter in '26 anyways. No need to hit the portal. Hold on to the receipts.
Biggest portal needs will be OL and DL. Have to fortify the LOS. But, of course, if there are any difference makers out there you have to give them a look. A stud safety to shore up next year's secondary would be nice, too.
