Recruiting Football Talk VIII

That went about how I thought it would. Some of you all should get into politics or journalism.

I don’t have an explanation and there’s clearly a discrepancy but why would the SEC conspire against one of its premier institutions and football programs? Vols draw eyeballs, are an exciting “cool” brand now, and are on the forefront of taking power from the NCAA and handing it to conferences which means even more money for the folks in the charge.

You’re jumping ahead in the analysis, but you’ve at least admitted there’s an issue. That’s always the first step.

Matthews reminds me of Jefferson.

Very smooth, great body control, plenty of speed.

Yet we sit him on the bench to play 3 guys that hurt. Just make it make sense.

I’d rather play someone healthy that doesn’t know the playbook then have 3 dudes out there playing 70%…if that, seems like Squirrel has broken every bone in body 🤣
Well Heard was basically a statue at the end of the Arkansas game and awful against UF but no, we didn’t try anyone else

What you are failing to consider is the SEC/NCAA is one of the same. Beat up on the NCAA you beat up on the SEC. UT upset the apple cart. Sankey had things just the way they wanted it and here comes along TN who crapped it up. Do you think the SEC really wanted TN to sue the AA? TN is a rogue program in their minds. They have plenty of reasons to have a vendetta against TN.

As far as money, keeping TN in check doesn't cost them a cent. If It isn't TN another SEC team will reap those rewards.

Sankey built this the way he wanted to maximize the chance of two SEC teams in the playoffs. He wanted a strong team in the east and a strong team in the west. He chose Alabama and Georgia. He set the schedules where the rarely played each other during the season. It worked for the most part.

Fuhrman and crew just said Nico is 10-28 on throws of 10+ the last 3 games
Yup, thats not good at all. If he could’ve hit 5-6 more of the passes 10+ yards downfield then I feel like we’d be looking at this game a lot differently

Birmingham..... it's because of Birmingham.

Rant incoming:
Gumps hate us and we hate gumps. If I was a referee and officiated one of TENNESSEE's rivals or a game I knew would help my beloved VOLS, I'd have a hard time calling it straight down the line, especially after years of watching the VOLS get screwed over. We have proof there are alabama and florida alumni, that officiate games that TN is involved in and you know they hate the VOLS. They're part time refs, so what's it to them if they call it one-sided. There's no consequences and they have a regular job to go back to. They're "heroes" to their alma mater.

Now here's the real conspiracy........ Fulmer's part in turning alabama for recruiting violations and their cheating, poured enough fuel on flame to keep it stoked up to the point that the fire will burn hot forever. Bama will do whatever it has to do to keep TENNESSEE down. That's why Pruitt cheated so recklessly and openly while he was here. He didn't care if we lost our football program or not. We had an athletic department full of gumps for years, and that was the worst years we've had. Danny White got our AD cleaned out and we're healthier now, across all sports, than we've ever been. The rivalry between UT and UA is real and the hatred is real. Don't ever underestimate people that hate your guts and are willing do anything to keep you down. GET THE SEC OFFICE AWAY FROM BIRMINGHAM, AL.

End rant

tl;dr

I HATE ALABAMA

We are seeing another example of the fact that this staff is not flawless, they make mistakes, and this is certainly one of them. No reason he should not be out there with 3 of our WR's banged up.

I agree. Take his training wheels off and use him.

It's OK to question because this O is sucking against SEC opponents. It's pretty obvious they need to modify their approach.

really is crazy. not sure if its obstinance, laziness, or dont see it as an issue.

This staff HAS to get better with recruiting.
We currently have the #7 class in the country. How much better would you like them to get? (Now OL recruiting I would agree, but I think we are getting better there)

I really no longer understand why folks cannot see this unless they are too busy defending their own narratives.

May have answered my own question.

Sorry if already discussed---

Anyone with insider knowledge of what the heck is going on with Heard, please let us know... And it's not re-aggravating a high ankle sprain... I'm not buying that anymore... The kid was sprinting through the line knocking people over to make way for Sampson and was high-stepping in the endzone after the score... you don't do that with an injury/ankle sprain.

We were going to be lucky this weekend to pull one out if we were at full strength. We've got Pili out, WR's banged up, and now Heard. Geez.

Running a straight line is different from shuffling side to side…anybody who has ever had ankle injuries should know that. No disrespect but have you ever played football? Or are you just willfully trolling at this point?
