OldTimer’s Dugout - Off Topic Thread

As many as Nico should have played so...
I figured you didn't know or you did know and were knowingly trying to sell a misleading comparison. You sound like the people who used to be booted when they ragged the baseVols.

We won, btw. You're ruining a great play in Vols history by twisting it against our team. Just relax and root our guys on.

Bad juju… Yoda No sez…
The PF is where I started out (2012) when I first joined. My 1st love sort of speak.
I had no home at first but they took me in and would reply to me w/posts.
When I first sign on now I'm locked here to checkout the overnight postings.
Then I move to the PF during the day bc y'all leave here to do other things too.

Did you stop posting in the Lady Vols Forum?

ESPN giving a lot of digital ink to Tennessee:

How Tennessee's aggressive defense is carrying the load as the offense finds its way

I think Nico is a unique talent and if Tennessee coaches "Let Nico be Nico", they'll be just fine or great on offense.
The opposite of that is being like another qb, Stetson Bennett, but Nico is SOOOO gifted compared to Stetson and MOST other NCAA quarterbacks that, fitting Nico in as a system QB like most college qbs are, limits Nico's greatness or ability. Thus, just let Nico be Nico a little more and I think UT will dominate on offense and defense and get a national championship.

eta: video is good too, but the article itself is really good.

My only gripe I have w/Nico is he holds the ball too long & he needs to run
more when things break down in the secondary. I'm aware he doesn't have much time but he needs to identify it quicker.

I agree and I wonder if he's been directed to hold the ball and not run. I think he is SO fast he could get more first downs by being able to call his own number or improvise and just break out for a run.

He's gotta be one of the fastest qbs if not THE fastest. Guys that are 6'6" and can run are nearly impossible to defend against because Nico throws a nice catchable ball as well as a tight spiral that he can throw for 60-70 yards.

If Nico even makes just 2 passes over 35 yards it will open up the running game like crazy. After that Nico will have MUCH more time in the pocket as you pointed out, he doesn't currently have.

Most teams don't have a qb that can throw a tight spiral even 25 yards.

IMO (obviously) Nico has gifts we've yet to see and (selfishly) I wanna see them. haha

I'd very much dislike preparing a team to play against Tenn or deal with Nico.

I don't really care about this kind of thing anymore these days. My 2 teams
have a long way to go before I even consider about such NFL rankings.
Cowboys & Titans want be going anywhere soon as far as winning any SB Title.
As for the Lions they deserve to win it all. Lord, they've been big losers for so long.

Replay is sooo important in football now, that I prefer watching it at home or my parents house with multiple screens and tabs open for live stats, chat boards, Game cast and switch between different audio sources.

Baseball? I'm much more relaxed and just take in the game as it's presented in person or at home.

I mean why go see the game live? People don't sit down & enjoy themselves anymore.
Watch the game on TV & everyone is standing up for 3 hrs + hollering their guts out.
I have a 55" screen w/nobody in front of me throwing their beer & spitting on me.
And when you have to go pee there's 100K drunk angry fans in front of you waiting to go.
Yeah, get off my lawn.

Nashville… 🤣
I instantly though "pie" and how no one wants to look selfish by taking the last piece. haha, not sure what MLB and Tampa's back up plan is, but it better be a good one because finding a place for 81 home games isn't going to be easy unless they use several stadiums to cover what is going to be called a Home game.

I'm glad that's not my job.
