I know you are caught up in this whole "they want to see our offense before they commit" kick, but I think it has more to do with a QB right now. Crompton isn't going to be chucking them balls so they are more concerned with who is, then looking at our offense. You won't be able to tell much about Kiffin's ideal offense by this season anyway it's going to be so run-heavy.
I would tell Jesse that he just needs to work on his scrambling abilities.

Scroggins was touring the UT campus with his family but did not work out during the camp. With help from mammoth Louisiana defensive tackle commitment Anthony Johnson (6-foot-4, 300), the personable and well-spoken Smith used a defensive drill to illustrate to Scroggins and his family the benefits of joining the Vols.
"We were doing some stunting drills, and me and Anthony were showing him how fast we can get to the quarterback," said the 6-3, 240-pound Smith, who is the state's top-rated prospect and is projected to play defensive end. "I told him, 'Trust me, you don't want to be on the wrong side of that.'
"Coach (Lane) Kiffin wanted me to meet Jesse's family, so I introduced myself as the first player to commit to the 2010 signing class. I'm proud of that and wanted them to know it. I told them I had helped stock up the defensive line, and now I wanted to work on getting some offensive help."

Although he said he doesn't want to pressure Scroggins, Smith admitted the two exchanged cell numbers and will stay in contact.
"If Jesse commits to us, you're going to see a bunch of big-time wide receivers, running backs and offensive linemen follow him," Smith said. "Once he does, everything will really start to fall in place for us. Players want to go where they're going to be surrounded by talent, and quarterback is the key for us right now.
"The staff has really done a good job of creating a great atmosphere for players. It's like an instant friendship with everybody up there. They did an amazing job in just a month and a half last year, and they've already got some studs for next year.
"I talked with Jesse about the whole process. I was recruiting him to join us but trying not to pressure him too much. I could already tell he was feeling good about it, and he said he loved the coaches, the facilities, the atmosphere and everything about Tennessee."

I would say that any QB prospect that thought they would be running for their life during the first few years at a school would definitely be something to turn them off. It's going to take a few years for us to get back to prominence, and then we will be in MUCH better position to sell things to recruits. Not having any substance, other than previous coaching experience at other schools and NFL teams, can really undermine the thought process of a 17 year old kid that wants to win. It's sometimes scary to look at this team after this year with an unproven O-Line. Not that this year's is really that proven.
Eric don't you think lane know what he need, I think some of the dl mite be move to of, or they mike get a one are two from jr col. I think they have a plan.

This is true. A couple of the guys we already have committed could very well end up on the other side of the ball. Only time will tell.
It's less about OL when you are talking WRs and TE..and obviously recruiting more OL and more about who the QB is going to be. RBs and QBs are primarily the ones concerned with the OL.
So, by what your saying, you think that we should sacrifice our thin D-Line to move them over to our thin O-Line?? That makes no sense. These guys have moved enough and I think Kiffin knows this and will keep them at their current positions in order to get some type of performance out of them by letting them learn ONE position. We all know how that worked out last season and previous ones. If a kid is a natural at a position, you don't move him to suit your needs, you recruit for those needs and let him shine where he is most comfortable. Too many things have worked against us in the past doing things like you suggest.
Actually, everyone on the side of the offensive ball should be concerned with the O-Line. If the QB can't get the ball to WR's or TE's, and RB's can't find holes to run through, then the whole thing is a wash. If we had a "strong" offensive line, I think Scroggins would have committed here long ago. The other two teams that he is looking at have VERY strong O-Line's and really is no where near as suspect as ours is.

What's the word from the USC message boards? Anyone have a pulse on what is going on out there?
