Our starting left tackle was out for the game , his replacement went out hurt . Our generational talented QB had turned the ball over twice , once deep in our own territory. We had the lead and at that point Coach Heupel made the decision to protect our lead our dinged up O-Line and our young QB . He put the game in the hands of our elite Defense ( elite at all three levels ) and our elite special teams . It worked to perfection.
It was a brilliant display of coaching in my opinion and any doubts I had about Coach Heupel are gone now.
It's truly GREAT TO BE A TENNESSEE VOL !!!

Thank you for this. I don’t think many people understand what it takes to do this when your entire identity is offense. He’s realized he has an entire team now and it’s not all on him. Thats growth.

We have a week to heal up and then we head to Arkansas for another tough SEC road game .
I am confident that Coach Heupel will have our VOLS ready .

He’s a smart guy. The team is playing lights out. Offense is run-first and versatile. This team is different from what I expected. Different and really good. Look at those rushing stats from last night.

I was surprised last night by the return of the legion of the miserable.

I always say I have heard it said all my life “if you don’t hate the Vols you’re not a true Vol fan.” Heard it all my life.

I do have one critique. Heupel said “aight” in the locker room speech. I’ll let it slide this time but he has to be sensitive to how that word triggers so many of us. I was shaking and sweating for 3 hours after it, having visions of Guarantano throwing to Kentucky players.
I’m okay now, but it really triggered me.

Man, anyone upset with this is a clown. We've gone from bitching about defense costing us games to demonstrating in a road SEC game that our defense can thoroughly kick ass and win us games. Tennessee can win in multiple ways, with multiple styles. We're scary.

And it's thanks to the head coach.

Yea, when we punted on our first possession instead of going for it I was glad to see his decision making has matured.

Two weeks but yes, it will be another war. There are no easy conference games in the SEC. Just ask Missouri how easy was Vandy or Georgia how easy was Kentucky

Josh has learned from mistakes last year. When you have the defense playing like they are you need to rely on them at times. So far when Nico has turned the ball over vs nc st and Okie our defense has gotten return turnovers to help out the offense. It takes a team to be good and not worry about who gets the credit. Josh realized the circumstances as stated above and didn't take chances on offense. It was frustrating at times to watch as Sooners loaded up the box and knowing we could of taken some down field chances but why when up 22-3 going into the 4th quarter and Oklahoma struggling. Got dicey there at the end but a win is a win and such a big win as Tenn has positioned itself nicely regarding playoffs just take care of business. Go Vols!!!

I noticed it too but it doesn't bother me. The past is the past and I have no problem leaving it there.

We have a good head coach who's brought in a great staff and together they're building a very solid team.

Step by step. week by week and game by game as long as they stay focused and prepare well for each game I feel very good about this season and I also have a feeling that we're going to surprise a team or 2 along the way.

I've refused to say, or even think this before. but I finally feel like WE ARE BACK!!!

VFL...GBO!!

Going into a rowdy road environment on a big stage and coming out with a win is huge. We’ll have to do that two more times this year, and our guys just proved they can handle it and win. Road games have always been tricky during Josh Heupel’s tenure, and having a team built to sustain letdown games on offense is massive, in my opinion.

I got that, I only quoted to to acknowledge I noticed it and it was mainly for the ones that it actually triggers so bad you can see it in their posts.

They're the ones still starting threads with Jones or Kiffin in the title.
Gotcha

💯 agree

and I was at the game. The entire town was a dust bowl from drought and dry heat…but that field was a slop. The end zone paint didn’t even stick to the grass.
