Your not factoring in the new clock rules (Nick Saban Tennessee Rule) that shorten the game. We went a lot faster in '22In 2023, UT ran 71 plays per game (36 in CFB). The snap speed was 21.2 seconds per play (4 in CFB).
In 2022, UT ran just under 74 plays per game (34 in CFB). The snap speed was 20.2 (2 in CFB).
Not that different on the speed. The difference, I think, was our inability to hit big plays so the offense looked different while not actually being much slower.
