Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

Yes. Original was a Jackery 500. Works like a champ but only 500 amps. Had a multi-day outage recently and it powered my internet and computer, some lights and a fan for maybe 8 - 12 hours. have a solar panel to recharge. Ended up buying a Harbor Freight 2200 to run the fridge but also bought 2000w worth of new Jackery's for the next outage (a 1000 plus and add on 1000 pack).

on the original - I check it every 3 - 6 months and after sitting unused it still shows 100%s. there are several good brands out there.

I'll probably grab some more solar panels for recharging

Thank you for the update. That gives a good feel for what size you really need if you want more than just keeping the minimal things charged and working. Good to know about the batteries staying charged, too. I know the battery types are different, but three cars and a sick wife add up to car battery drain that is driving me nuts right now.

from what I've seen - the lifepo4 style cells are what you want regardless of brand.

I could run my fridge with the newer ones I got but probably only for a 1/2 day.

At present I would use the gas generator for the fridge and the power banks from all the other stuff - not sure what I'd do about HVAC with this current set up

Apparently, I'm missed from time to time as some of you check in on me. I really appreciate that. Truly.

The job hunt continues. I've applied to about 20 different places and had a few interviews so far. The most promising seems to be a staffing coordinator job at one of the local hospitals. I'm going back for a third "look" tomorrow to see if it's what I "want." Have another job with the city as well. Not thinking that's going to pan out though.

But idle minds and hands are the devils playground. So, I've been working on a bunch of honey do projects around the house. Done some that SSC asked for, working on some as well and more to come.

Dog bowl holder (paint done by SSC)

Mini spice holder for the counter top

1000002529.jpg

Rolling work table for myself (note to not go cheap on the casters going forward)

And more materials awaiting breakdown in the background.

1000002527.jpg

Inch thick panels I did in a glue up with scraps and other pieces... was thinking of using these for another work tabletop, but may shift on that to an up and coming project.

And shot glass presentation shelf for SSC.

1000002532.jpg

Up and coming honey please list:

Weight rack for her workout weights
Squirrel feeder stand (that one is me)
Shoe rack (need larger one for her)
More bench/table in the garage including storage for some of her items
Cat play tree (maybe)

To be continued....

If all else fails, check in with TFG in the zone. I bet he could get you on at the truck stop. But you'll have to relocate to Memphis.

Wiltfong AND Simmons both saying we beat out the pups for 4*LB Gass tomorrow! Down to just us and them. Next weekend Shaedy Hayward 4* safety set to announce between UT, UGA and Miami. We are predicted to land him as well. We are dragging the pups in this 2nd half of the recruiting cycle...if we land the 4 guys we are projected to land...ALL of which are being recruited heavily by UGA...we could finish with the 7th or 8th ranked class overall. More importantly, nearly all of our highest rated guys picked us directly over UGA...and 3/4 of these guys we are predicted to land are FROM the state of GA.

Coach Hypes last 2 classes have been good by anyones standards. This class can be GREAT if we land the guys we're predicted to land. This type of class is like a "bumper crop" and can vault us up into the really elite classes territory ranked 1-4 like UGA, Buckeyes, and bama classes of the past. Fwiw...we finally passed the 50% bluechip ratio as well...more than 50% of our class/roster are bluechip recruits now (ranked 4* and above). Also great to see that each class has been better than the last since CJH took the job. We are clearly on an upward trajectory....GO VOLS.

I like ole Boogie. He admittedly does not make or break news, but he does keep tabs on every possible source out there and beats VQ to the punch frequently. He also gets in on the live feeds when some guys announce and then gets an interview afterward. I subscribed to him on youtube. I am happy for the guy living his dream...he decided to try and carve out a career for himself based on recruiting and UT sports. I am happy for him. Seems like a really nice guy.

Well done Marcus
