Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

Have you ever seen 'em
Put the kids in the car after work on Friday night
Pull up in a holler about 2 a.m.
And see a light still shinin' bright
Those mountain folks sat up that late
Just to hold those little grandkids
In their arms, in their arms
And I'm proud to say that I've been blessed
And touched by their sweet hillbilly charm

reminds me of Knoxville's very own Todd Steed's East Town Mall

Do I remember that you bought a large battery backup a couple of years ago - maybe a Jackery? If I got that right, have you used it, and how well does it work? I've been considering getting one during Prime Days. Maybe even with the solar panel. Anybody with experience, please, chime in. And hog ... keep your Generac to yourself ... unless you want to loan it out in bad weather.

Welp. Plane two and a half hours late. Told they can't honor the seat assignments we had to pay extra for. And now they can't load any checked bags. Guess whose GF had enough stuff to need checking ....

So bags getting to Atlanta tomorrow and big kerfuffle trying to figure out what is going on

The joys of vacating.

Been there and done that. I used to get mega frustrated, nowadays I am just resigned to my fate and I go to the bar and relax and let it sort itself out.

Yes. Original was a Jackery 500. Works like a champ but only 500 amps. Had a multi-day outage recently and it powered my internet and computer, some lights and a fan for maybe 8 - 12 hours. have a solar panel to recharge. Ended up buying a Harbor Freight 2200 to run the fridge but also bought 2000w worth of new Jackery's for the next outage (a 1000 plus and add on 1000 pack).

on the original - I check it every 3 - 6 months and after sitting unused it still shows 100%s. there are several good brands out there.

I'll probably grab some more solar panels for recharging

Big day. Closing on a property this afternoon. Going to make a great rental. I really want to rehab the house but it has significant deterioration. Will be a big project. We are in the money on the deal so if we have to build from scratch, we can. Keep those fingers crossed 🤞 we can reno the structure.
