I think what you’re referring to is the politics version of engineered engagement. Put out an obviously dumb conspiracy theory and people pointing out how stupid it is drives it up the algorithm and gets it in front of more people who want to believe it, growing your audience.

Trump shooter Thomas Crooks posted an ominous comment that appeared to foreshadow his attack on the former president on the gaming platform Steam – which features an assassination game.

Crooks, 20, wrote in a post earlier this month, "July 13 will be my premiere, watch as it unfolds."

The chilling details were disclosed late Wednesday to senators in an all-member briefing.

Former President Donald Trump received a private, in-person briefing with Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle on Tuesday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, regarding the failed assassination attempt, a source familiar with the meeting told CNN.

Members of Trump’s campaign have also been given “bits and pieces” of information throughout the week by various members of the Secret Service, the source said.

Trump campaign officials anticipate the investigation into the security failures of last Saturday will reach a new phase beginning next week.

That's the thing. It really doesn't matter. They'll take the punches and move on. What actually happened is irrelevant at this stage, you basically have to DRT (dead right there) people or it didn't happen.

To be honest, I even took the side of SS as the status of the property wasn't known. Heck, I'm not sure I still know. I'm just assuming they had access because of the "sloped roof" comment.

Exactly when do they plan on really briefing the public in any way? (not that it matters)

Is it? The number of scandals that have hit the usss in the past few years is crazy. Parties with hookers while on foreign trips happened not so long ago and even Jill Biden's detail was recently compromised by foreign agents. They're are some excellent people there but they are still human.
