I mean your idea is plausible I guess. I just dont see a business telling local cops to F off, especially when traffic control will be needed...
It’s a long story, but once upon a time as a newb lawyer I had a judge basically tell me that he didn’t run the jail, didn’t know how to run the jail, would never in a million years want to run the jail, and they may well be mistreating my client by keeping him in PC, but he wasn’t going to micromanage the guy who did run the jail, and wasn’t going to order my client out of protective custody if the jail thought he needed to be there. Instead, he reduced his bond and my client was murdered 3 weeks after he posted it.
Moral of the story being that I (now) think the judgment of experienced professionals, particularly from organizations with a pretty strong track record, probably outweighs Monday morning quarterbacking on limited and sketchy information.
Obviously something went sideways, here, and the buck stops with the secret service, but trying to pin it on them as a colossal failure or whatever seems a little reactionary.
Maybe I’m being too deferential but I did roll my eyes at somebody earlier saying we needed to wait to see if it was politically motivated so I think I’m being level headed.
