Pretty much. The most damaging part is even if they messed up everything, just getting Trump off stage when they lost control would have basically eliminated large scale problems.

I know nothing about security protocols for events but if you can’t secure high ground for an event it would seem to me you find another venue.

Well, if it were up to the SS.... Trump would just be in a basement somewhere. They all would be, the practicalities of the real world come into play though. I only have a fringe knowledge of SS process and its been a long time. I've worked a few events with SS back at LSU and I was in the military/government as well.... but I'm no expert. Most of the stuff that happened here was very basic breakdowns..... this was all very avoidable.

Whoever was making the call (command) completely failed here.
